It's a tight fit, but there's just enough room on the shaft to line up the pinion. I've never had an issue with them not fitting the motor plate, but maybe the opening is smaller on the newer ones. I can see how it could be a problem.

yea just a tight fit on b4/t4/sc10 motor plate,old rc10 stuff had plenty room.
