I still really like Survivor and I'm not afraid to admit it. I grew up listening to Eye of the Tiger at full volume on my little one-speaker boombox as a kid in 1982....

I actually got to meet Jim Peterik (he's the guy on keyboards, read more here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jim_Peterik) from Survivor a few years back when I lived in Chicago. I was at our favorite Mexican restaurant that we went to almost every week, and he came up to the bar asking for a recommendation on a Tequila. Since I love great sipping tequilas and the restaurant owner and I were always talking about it, I recommended a great one and he ordered a shot and went back to his table. My friend the owner told me who he was and I was floored, so I had to go over and politely interrupt to tell him how much I enjoyed their music and about me wearing out the Eye of the Tiger cassette tape as a kid! He was really cool and thanked me for coming over, and for the tequila shot recommendation!

Speaking of the 80's. There was an awesome skateboarding movie I had saw a few years ago. I didn't see the beginning. But at the end this dude was flying down the hill on a black skateboard with chrome trucks and hardware on it, and he had gloves with cutting boards on them. He was trying to catch some bad guys or something. He got the skateboard from a dude who had an in ground pool, and did nothing but skate and build skateboards in the under ground pump house or fallout shelter, or whatever it was. It was an awesome movie. I'd like to see it again but don't know what it was called.

The de-railment of the thread made me think of this. Especially the checkerboard vans part.
