Any any one tech that can wrench one brand, can do another- unless it's a german car
Ya, but they convince themselves that one is better than the other especially the ones at the dealership... Of which some of those people I'm scared to let touch my cars.
My best friend is a diesel tech at a general garage... Fords rule and he hates working on anything else and he has all the same reasons the GM fans and the Chrysler fans have about their non favorites..
I am personally a Ford fan myself, I have 3 of them... And since we didn't have to bail them out, I will continue to be a Ford fan!

Damn strait fords rule! I have had my truck for 12 years 250,000 miles on it. Never let me down untill now and its not Fords fault the heater core went bad. And far as not having to bailout ford I couldnt agree more! Im confident that if it wasnt for it over heating I could have gotten well over 300,000 on it. I still might yet!
Does it have the plastic intake manifold? If so, I wouldn't be surprised if it was cracked. I had a 97 Tbird with the 4.6 and there was a recall to replace the intakes due to cracking. It made it run similar to what you're describing.
No its not plastic. I had to take it all off though to put the T-Stat in it so im starting to think I missed something. I was only hot for a minute or two so I really dont think it something serious I could be wrong though.
No more Fords for me unless I was to ever score a real nice fox body Cobra. Had a '97 SHO that was a never ending problem. Almost all of the 96-99 SHO's had a cam gear failure that Ford never acknowledged and should've been a recall. Kind of a one off motor I realize, but was never acknowledged as a failure even after a class action lawsuit. I'm sure the other big 2 would probably do the same. Lesson learned not to get a one off model car.
Sounds like you got a good deal on a zero mileage motor Rhino.
