As long as the spur still clears the gear cover, yeah, I would think so.

You could use the Losi XXX dual disc slipper, this should be a direct fit. However you will have to use the losi spurs.

Luckily, that's exactly the same as the current B4 slipper assembly as far as plates and flats on the top shaft are concerned.

I did this just by pushing the topshaft gear off a b4 shaft then replaced it with the rpm topshaft gear. Works perfectly! Easy to do with either a gear puller, or an appropriate size tube. Looks very tidy as well.

Cant post pics at the moment as i would have to resize them and i'm off to bed:)

That sounds even better. Let me know what exactly you used to remove the gears and press them back on.

I basically used a piece of bar driiled out slightly larger than the topshaft diameter, a handy size bolt and a bench vice to push the gear off, and just the bar to push it back on with great care. Be carefull pushing the gear back on as i have broken a topshaft by being to heavy handed before!
Make sure you use a vernier or other caliper to measure the gear postion before and after for correct allignment;)

As i said works a treat and looks the part too.

Have heard people say to watch with the black b4 topshaft gears as they dont push off as well, i've done a couple now and havent found a problem with either type

Thanks for the pics! I just removed both gears from their corresponding shafts similar to what you've shown. The B4 shaft I have has the black gear. The RPM gear just slides right over the B4 shaft where it is splined. Are the older silver gear B4 shafts different as in the same diameter as the RPM shaft?

So let me get this right, your saying its too loose?

As i said i've done them with the silver and black gear shafts and have had no problem, the diameter should be the same, as the housing, bearing etc has remained unchanged

Yes, the RPM gear on the B4 shaft is a loose fit. A precise fit but loose for sure. It seems I read somewhere that this could be an issue when using the newer Associated shaft with the black gear?

Can you get a close up of the B4 shaft used in your last post?

is it a tight fit, just not a press fit? Like, you can almost put it on by hand? If so, you can use loctite green sleeve retainer,

OR,
if you are good with a heavy duty soldering iron, you can solder the gear on. Wrap some electrical rosin core solder around the shaft at the base of the gear on both sides, and heat up the shaft on the end with a big iron, or even a small pencil torch. When it's hot enough, it will flow in and secure the gear. Any touch up can be done with a file or xacto to clean off excess solder.

I cant unfortunatley as its now in my truck, these pics are a few months old.
The truth is even thou it shows a silver gear shaft, it was a black gear one i used as i snapped the silver one getting the rpm gear back on there! Not because of a tight fit, just me not looking what i was doing!
Might need someone with a bit more knowledge to chime in here, as far as i was aware the shafts were the same but the black gear was just harder to push off. Will see if i can find my post where i asked about it.

Not even a press fit. Slides right on and off. You can even turn the gear on the splines barely hearing it catch any of the splines. Trying to figure out something that might work as a shim. Also looking for an older silver geared B4 shaft for a comparison.
