I'm not sure if you had checked out the build I did with the Castle setup, but it might be helpful. It could save you some $$ in repairs too.

Welp, back from the first day of playing with it out in the open. Went to some soccer fields because the super low cut grass is awesome for speed runs but it still has a bit of a cushion to it when you are cartwheeling or landing rough. The truck performed very well - no major issues until I ripped one of the ball socket bolts out of the rear bulkhead. I'm guessing that the 20 year old nylon can only take so much abuse. We brought out my buddies skateboard ramps and were getting about 60 feet of air off them - the 10T still flies like a champ! We double stacked the ramps and my friend jumped over a soccer goal - I couldn't bring myself to put the old truck through that abuse. On 3s, the slipper slips - the diff slips - everything slips and the Sidewinder SV2 gets HOT - pretty sure my intention of sticking to 2s is a good one.

I have some minor stuff to fix, but overall it was a GREAT morning - was very good to see the old truck back in action!

Next few replies should be be very exciting indeed. As if it couldn't get any better, I mananged to pick up a mint Composite Craft chassis and I'm going to redo the whole thing with all new hardware - even the new (to me) foam ball joint protector thingies and a factory blue screw set.

One thing I am looking for is a pair of part # 6360? They are the nylon pieces that bolt the the rear of the chassis that the rear arm pins go through -

You should look into getting RPM rear suspension mounts. Hard to find but they will not strip easy!

Think i did find some brand new RPM's - we'll see if the deal goes through. Now if I could find a good bulkhead (mine is warped a bit) we'd be in good shape!! Part # 6323 for the record!

Welp, two sets of RPM's on their way. I also payed way too much money but picked up a brand new 'Worlds' (so it's black - yay) rear bulkhead. Seems to be one of the the more rare pieces for some of our cars. Which got me thinking - I could probably build that bulkhead in g-code in a few hours (Yes, I have access to a CNC)- and burn a few of them out in aluminum. And that doesn't stop there - I'm relatively cofident that I can reproduce (and reproduce a GREATLY improved) version of a many of these hard to find pieces....

Thoughts?

Sounds great, just avoid overlapping with Atlas's stuff... No need in having two resources making some of the same parts and none on the others, I'd rather have one resource for each part.... I know that there is someone working on aluminum trans cases for the stealth and 6 gear, and there is Atlas's stuff (which I can't see yet as I don't have enought posts for B/S/T acces)....

In general, I am trying to rock as much aluminum parts as possible. and, specifically, I'd be in for a metal bulkhead (depending on the price)

Obviously a lot has changed since the last post - I've dumped another truckload of money into this thing .. and can't say I regret it in the least. I'm just about ready to drill for body mounts now that I have ordered some more options (needed taller than stock in the front and farther back in the rear). But here is how she's looking --



Brand new Composite Craft chassis - and so many little detail parts that I can't even list it....

I've also got a receiver box from a RC10GT and custom mounted a fan on my Sidewinder SV2 (really should have documented it - I'll get some pics) - also put a T4.1 slipper / top-shaft into it because the Castle motor turned the old slipper material into goo.

25mm mini-fan ordered from Tower I think - raided Ace Hardware and walked out with some large steel cotter pins that had an inside diameter just smaller than a 4-40 machine screw. Yes, I did tap each and every single one of those hardened cotter pins and even though they were a pretty tight fit between the cooling fins, I put a bit of JB-Weld on them to make sure they were secure. Everything lines up beautifully -
