That looks pretty good Rick! I suppose for an off road car you could double up the thickness to get the tires off the ground.

Yea just use a thicker block or build to like a table or H anything to get it higher. and the foam is just like a battery pad. look at any of the cars you have that I built its in their.and its only about 8 bucks

The lid from those blank CD containers works pretty well too. Also translucent plastic, so it doesn't detract from the car being displayed. Some adhesive foam on the top would be good for the shelf queens that don't already have scratches.

I'm planning inexpensive reusable plastic containers availble at Big Lots, WalMart, etc. The 1 quart container size is pretty good, such as below.

I do like the idea of using 2.2" truck foams, though.

I always use what i have floating around the garage lol, In the pic you will find, rattle can lids, painted 2" PVC pipe, B4 rear wheels, 10T tires, empty esc boxes lol

But the rattle can lids work well, and i have aquired a lot of them over the years, now all my paint cans in the garage are missing lids lol

HI!... Well went out and bought some "HOUSE' stuff so I can show off my "RC" stuff!

Bought some 8FT X 15" shelving and wall brackets. Then I made a few car stands out of routered 4X4 fence post tops. They were a bit low so I cut some hardwood I had laying around the shop and made them 1/2" taller. Going to paint them tomorrow. I have colour matched paint that matches the shelves. Got a few pics of the RC vehicles I have completed. That's only 3 of the 16 RC-10's I have. lol!

HI!... Well got bit more work done to the display area today. I got 4 of the wood car stands done today. Painted them the same colour as the shelves. While at Home Depot today I was going to pick up 4 more woof fence tops. While looking for them, I saw some black plastic ones. So I bought 4 of those. I had to trim them down for the same height as the wood ones. At least these ones don't have to be painted. I stopped off at a local craft store and bought 12" X 9" sheets of sticky black felt. Total cost per stand was about $4.50(CAN). Not bad.

Here's a few pics :

10 ft stick of 4" pvc pipe from any hardware store. Cut rings out of it to whatever height you need. Paint it or cover it with felt or whatever.

I just recently figured out that that sticky back foam stuff makes great body washers too. it is $3 for 10 self stick foam washers at the hobby shop and they are all boring black.
In the craft stores you can get a bucket of ~1000 self stick foam shapes in various colors for under $10. I just swipe them from my kids craft supplies.
I use an RPM body mount hole punch to put the cutout in the center.
Can't believe it took me this long to discover.
These are some holiday candies and a chopped up christmas tree ;)
