Nice looking buggy. Just wondering what the rear wheels on it came from?

Re: My New Gold Runner w/ 6 gear
illshou: The wheels are actually Associated 2.1" diameter wheels for the RC10 back in the day. I still have a stash of them from my AE/Reedy racing days, that I am keeping for vintage racing as I really don't wish to switch to modern rims, just yet, because I still also have a stash of the Proline tires from back then that the team ran.
Here is my '93 Worlds body on it temporarily until I paint a new Protech for it.

Re: My New Gold Runner w/ 6 gear
Ruffy has a small stash of tires for those wheels. If that doesn't work, there are ways to mount a 2.2 on a 2.1 wheel
And if all else fails, I have what he needs to get him through race day.

Re: My New Gold Runner w/ 6 gear
Ok I went all out today and finished (still have the window net to put in and AE driver...maybe) the gold tub runner body. I decided to try my hand at making a boxter runner body and it turned out better than I initially thought it would. Almost looks like it should be a shelfer body for a boxter replica.
I did this entire body myself from the ground up. I spent a lot of time mixing the paint and testing it onto lexan until I got as close as I could with the color hue to the original boxter car (reference the Curtis holding the car fixture which is the one I used until I got it close).
Here she is my new Gold Runner Body, minus the window net and AE driver I still need to paint, next to my 1st version of the boxter body. I hope you all like it as much as I did making it today. I did start very early this morning, and took almost all day (I took the day off due to my needing to replace the AC unit's compressor fan motor).

scr8p has a point Ruffy, you better not land on your head on the big jumps
.
I bet it looks awesome on the car.

Re: My New Gold Runner w/ 6 gear
I have most of them myself, from the old days, then the ones I don't have I am either having made or making myself using color laser printers.
Yeah you bring up an interesting point guys. I don't roll over much but I did not factor in what would happen to the roof if I did a hard thump over a big jump. Now I am questioning if I should just keep it as a shelfer or what.
I still can't wait to see the one that my painter is doing for me because he is much better than I am and this one I just whipped up in one day.

Re: My New Gold Runner w/ 6 gear
Ruffy,
the giant car killer is gone at the indoor track.
I won the "B" main at the '87 nationals running a car with a driver, window net and lights. I raced that body for about a year after that with no problem. I didn't cut the windshield out. Maybe that was the key.

Re: My New Gold Runner w/ 6 gear
You will probably end up racing with it Ruffy, that’s what you painted it for. And I don’t remember the last time I saw that body schema race before
so that will be very cool.
I say run it and bring some clear tape with you. Maybe reinforce the corners someway.

Re: My New Gold Runner w/ 6 gear
Here is the gold runner before heading off to the track, with the replica body fitted to it.
Yes, I did race with it, and no windows, and no it did not break at all. In fact, I don't have a single scratch on the roof or body after a full qualifying and race day! Full race report may follow in the florida vintage racing forum, but the car handled well, the biggest thing being I was not "ON" this last race day with this car. I just wasn't "feeling" it, since the car in more able hands would have probably won.

I like it
Hows the underside of that chassis holding up? Was it a new or used one?
