team car for the VONATS hopefully

Post by markt311 »

I picked this car up from a friend, in a roundabout way I have bngiles to thank. Since he found it for the guy I got it from. It's nothing special right now, just a stock Team Car that hasn't been run very much. It's got a worlds car steering setup on it, other than that it's stock.

The only thing I plan to do for this car to get it ready for the VONATS is put some CVD's on it to get some modern tires on the back. I need to order a body, but at least I have an rc10 finally.

Sorry the workbench (kitchen table  ) is so messy, I have a half torn apart 8ight and my brother's slash somewhere in there too.

Mark, that is,IMO,the PERFECT candidate for the Vinatage Nats!
Not perfect, but nice enough to put the schmooze on everyone else :D .

I'm going to start to try and get a Vintage Off Road class going in NZ.
I have many a perfect candidate...JRX Pro with a XX retrofit would be mine.

PS:Nice flames on the kitchen bench! :P

We were talking at the track on friday night about getting a vintage class going. We've got 4 or 5 that could race. I'm not planning on doing too much to this car, just setting it up to run some laps.

if you do a vintage class, i recommend doing it for free or half price for a few weeks just to gain interest. we ran this class for a little while and it was fun.

Thanks, I made my pit board out of a scrap piece of 3/8" lexan I had at work, the paintjob took me about 20 minutes total, I used my left over spray cans.

We'll probably do the vintage cars running with the regular buggies at first since that class is a little empty right now. We have 3 or 4 really fast guys that want to run them though. Since I've only been racing 1/8th scale lately I need to practice with some quick guys. If it takes off I'm hoping to try to put on a vintage race this winter, but I have to see what the interest looks like. I asked the last track owner what he thought of the idea, but never got a response, the track is under new management now though.

the tower order is growing bigtime! I hope the wife doesn't notice  , and I don't even have electronics yet!

The look on my Dad's face said it all when I pulled this out of the box to show him, he drove me all over SoCal when I was 11-16 years old and "had" to go to a bunch of races cause of my old motor sponsor.
I hope I'm not annoying anyone by constantly putting new posts in my thread but I haven't been this excited about an rc car since I got my first grasshopper when I was 7.

I want to turn this into the hardcore race rc10 some people wanted to see a while back, I'm pulling out all my old tricks I learned from some old AE sponsored guys when I was a kid. Hopefully I can make this year's VONATS with it.

Either way I'm going to give it to him for Father's Day after I'm done with it

I don't think we'll have any difficulty talking Robert into doing a vintage race this winter if the interest is there... Heck, he would probably race in it himself. I know he has a few oldies in the basement....

That team car wont take much work to get her ready. I rebuilt the diff (I think) before handing it to Dave.

Mark, these wheels should definetely fit. They have the 3/16" hole and have about a zero offset. Should fill the bill for the new 2.2" tires.

Very nice runner.
Its funny how bringing one of these oldies to the track will get the talk of vintage racing going.
