Found this great rig while measuring his roof. this was in his neighbors yard. My buis does role form steel for shops pole barns houses malls. when i go out i look for treasure and sometimes i find some cool old stuff this guy was sittn out back on O2 smoking. we talked asked him about his spit he says make me an offer---200 bucks he says its yours he passed away about 2 weeks later cancer here it is

cool... any work done to it?? i always wanted to find a cool old car like this and ratrod it(gut the inside and only use whats needed to run the car then paint it primer black).. i dont know anything about this car..i know people dont rat rod some cars cause some cars are worth more to people "untouched"..i was never a person to fix to sell,i fix to use..i never understood the fix/restore/store/ sell people..i allways said if i won the lotto id go to a barrett jackson auction buy the sweetest muscle car and do burnouts/doughnuts in the lot till the tires poped just to get all those crazy collectors upset plus it would be fun

Me either. I want to enjoy the things I have and if they're not being used, I don't want them. I wouldn't make a good collector! LOL

Can you imagine? LOL Then after the tires popped, put it back into the auction as is!

I am with you, however, for some that is where the excitement is; the thrill of the hunt then to lovingly get the car to whatever state they prefer. ( restore, restomod, street rod, what ever creams their twinkie) Then either store it because they have the GNP of a small country invested in the car, or sell it to finance the next one it is a viscious cycle. I personally hate trailer queens; cars are meant to be driven and enjoyed.

i have no problem with trailer queens. everyone has their reasons for not driving their cars. alot of times, it's because the distance that they're traveling to a show, there's simply not enough room in the car to carry all of their luggage and whatever else. i mean really..... how much room is there in a 32 3 window ford? not much, especially the ones that are channeled to the ground. not to mention, some cars may look cool, but just are not that comfortable. if your gonna be riding in a car for a lond period of time, your gonna want to be comfy.

even my dad's 55 chevy, he drives that thing all over the place around here. but, with a pair cheater slicks on the back and 4.10 gears with a muncie 4sp., it went out to the '07 woodward dream cruise in michigan on a trailer. it went to the '06 OC cruise in maryland on a trailer, too. it's just not an "interstate friendly" kind of car, and it was never built to be.

it's not really the "collectors"........ it more the "purists". and i think chopping up vintage iron pisses them of more than just spinning tires.

i dont like the choping of vintage cars. i like them the way they are..i really dislike when people take cool old stuff, totally redo everything to be "new school", lower it and put huge rims on..so i understand the "purists" but on the other hand id still like to get a new built old muscle car with my lotto $$$(when i win ) and beat the heck out of it with no remorse and no regret that i didnt store it in a garage to sell it years later to make money like some "collectors"

I understand wanting to protect your toy, but it saddens me to see old cars that are never or rarely driven. All of the rubber seals and other rubber parts will deteriorate quicker without an occasional workout, oil drains down too much to protect cylinders and such, not good.

The guy I work for has an incredible ’31 (his birth year) Packard and Caddy, and an awesome ’28 Ariens Fox firetruck (long time volunteer). Sadly they just sit and keep dust off the floor.

They really should be at least started and warmed up every month or so. I am available if you need help. And yes, I keep offering, I think I’d look darn good cruising in the Packard. OK, would you believe better than I do in my own not old enough to be classic Ford?

At least the RC shelf queens store better, not near as much rust concern for one thing.

Yes everyone has their own reason for trailering a car, and I have heard a bunch of them. I just have a little more respect for the guy that is going to drive his car that he has spent so much time and money on. I do also agree that some cars should be trailered.
I have driven a model A roadster w/o a top from Fort Worth to St. Paul that was probably the most fun I have ever had with my knees under my chin ( I am 6'5"). My dad was following in his 32 tudor he was pulling his mullins trailer that carried all of our stuff half of which we really did not need. How much stuff do you really need for a long weekend? The two of us have also driven his 32 to Columbus and Louisville until he sold it. He now has a 32 roadster and a 39 Chevy four door both of which beg to be driven when ever I go to see my folks. Me I sold the roadster when I got married and have a Mustang Convertible that sits in my garage. Would I take an open car that far again? NO I like a/c, I don't like to wash a quart of diesel out of my hair at the end of the day, raindrops hurt at 75 not to mention bugs. I am a firm believer in It's the journey that matters more than the destination, and I had a lot of fun driving that old roadster.

There are times when a convertible would be awesome, such as driving through the California Redwoods and good stretches of the coast highway, but other than that, I prefer the non-lethal breeze that comes from the AC duct over the open window or open top. I don't even like sun roofs because of the noise.

The last time we took the convertible out as a family was a couple weeks before Christmas to look at lights. They are hot in the summer and cold in the winter. Overall they are very impractical but awfully fun, exactly what a toy should be.
