Re: Masami replica buildup
today the chassis, servo, and esc showed up. nice late b-day presents.
i got the holes drilled and countersunk the battery hold downs. i have yokomo straps on it in the pics, and i think i'll just reshape them a little to look like the ones on masami's car. i was gonna make my own from scratch, but it'll be easier to just use these. i need to get another new one, though (one is used). i still have to drill/countersink the holes for the yoke front bumper and the antenna mount. after that, the chassis will be ready for assembly when the time comes.

Masami San speaks a little english, or he did in '92 when I met him. If I could just find that darn picture with Masaki, Masami, Cliff Lett and myself I would be happy. Judging from the picture someone had in their sig of Masami with all his cars and trophies, he just might have that car still. Good luck with the build, I'm sure it will turn out great

Re: Masami replica buildup
a couple days ago, i studied that pic pretty hard. i believe this car is in the bottom row, all the way on the left. it's hard to tell from the pic because the car is so small, but it looks like there is black front arms on it now. you can still see the red castor blocks.markt311 wrote:Judging from the picture someone had in their sig of Masami with all his cars and trophies, he just might have that car still.

Not to take away from the post topic, but can anyone ID the 88' Worlds 12L in that photo.. It was in RCCA ads for a while, but my eyes are getting bad. Can't pick it out. Nice work on the build so far!!

Re: Masami replica buildup
i spent a liittle time doing some open servo surgery. the the receiver wires and the wire that goes to the esc were spliced. i have a couple standard ko servos that were shot, so i stole the wires from them to fix this servo. i need to go to radio shack and get the correct female plug for the single wire to match up to the one on the esc, then it's done.
i also cut the ears off of the servo itself, and cleaned the case up a little bit.

Re: Masami replica buildup
Now this is an interesting build! I thought about doing one of Masami's cars before myself. I figured I'd just get super frustrated and give up half way through. I can't wait to see what you come up with.
