Victor Engineering Super IQ

Post by RC10Eh »

Now, i understand that my ever so faithful Super IQ can be modded to charge NiMH batteries . I was also told that Sam out in Calgary Alberta ( good guy ! ) was doing them, however is not doing it anymore, anyone aware of anybody modding them? I understand that a new one is far less money and work ! But i try and keep as much " vintage " in my shop as possible , man , i have been using Nicads up until now. LOL. Any help would be greatly appreciated ! Cheers :D

do not quote me on this....... i am no battery expert. but i have read that as long as you set the delta peak correctly, it should have no problems charging nimh packs.

do a google search for "victor hiiq". there some discussions about them on rctech and a couple other places. i pretty sure that's were i read my above statement.

I have heard conflicting reports as to what to do, and by no means am i well versed on anything electrical , I can say, that John from the site emailed me back and i have since ordered an upgrade module. Once it arrives ( 27USD ) i will post how i made out . Not a huge following on this thread , but never the less, i will update. Thanks again scr8p :D

ya, let me know how you make out. i found that site around 2 years ago and have been procrastinating about doing the upgrade to mine. i've had it since 93 or so, and it still works flawlessly. :)

It's too bad Sam isn't doing upgrades anymore.

I had 2 Victors updated and it was money well spent.

Ok, so I received the EPROM 9 days after placing an order threw John, Transit time was good (Australia to Toronto) Total cost, 20 USD. I was a little concerned with the whole install, I am not electrically minded, but never the less, 3 minutes and I was done. I received both the installation guide, and instructions from john, and am just now reading up on what my abilities are now, Did throw a quick charge into a NiMH without a problem and john was great to deal with. Thanks again scr8p for the lead. Another note, he has a backlit light display panel for 40 USD, man that has been my only pet peeve about this unit since day one, I will get that once the budget permits. :D
