OT parts replacements/alternatives
http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXD427&P=PU
These seem like a fitting solution for the old skool cast steering knuckles on the optima and maxxum and mid. 5X10 mm bearings like the original.
Did anybody try this yet?
these are the hopped up versions (availablein different colours too)

Re: OT parts replacements/alternatives
I've got those cast knuckles on my runner Javelin. They fit fine, just like the originals.

Re: OT parts replacements/alternatives
cool! thanks for the confirmation
I'm thinking of putting up some threats with easy to find replacements hop-ups for the ultim, optima, optima mid and perhaps lazer (don't know enough on the variations for those though)
If you got some ideas, can you put them here or PM me?

Re: OT parts replacements/alternatives
there are 2 links: top is for a cast part, the lower one is for a machined aluminum part.
I put a link to the natural clour but they have black... and purple and blue I believe it was.

I see. I was referring to the second link but I should have figured that out by the price.
The cast ones look identical to the Kyosho parts.

Re: OT parts replacements/alternatives
I remember seeing a lazer build where blue suspension components were used. I don't remember what car those came from, but it would be great to list those parts here.

Re: OT parts replacements/alternatives
As far as I know (correct me if someone knows for sure) the Lazer ZX-5 c-hub's, front knuckles and rear hub carriers have the same mounting points and similar, if not improved, geometry as the Optima/Lazer. I've also been told that the RB5 universals fit the Optima/Lazer but haven't tried a set myself yet so I can't say for sure.

Re: OT parts replacements/alternatives
I think I know which arms you are talking about roger: I have a set and had them on my optima mid and stinger projects. They did not stay on for long though: the front arms don't line up the steering knuckle with the diff outdrives.
This extends the wheelbase (good) but the axles get extreme angles when the wheel turns outward.
There's a picture in my blackdog threat...will find it later. They are option parts for a tamiya and I will see if I can find a link or partnr for the orignal plastic spares too.
The lazer/optima-mid suspension compatibility is on my list, and so are the RB5 CVD's. Will surely add these in the treat once I get it started.
