RC10B2 Wheel and Tire availability
RC10B2 Wheel and Tire availability
Hello, I'm new to this forum. (I couldn't believe such a forum existed!)
I have a '95 RC10B2 that I had put together, ran a few times, stored away. I took it out of the box (10 years later) and was suprised to see that it still works. I would like to fresh it up a little with new wheels and tires - but I learned that they are no longer available. I called Associated and they told me I would have to set it up to take the B4 wheels using different bearings, shims, axles, etc... - is this my only option if I want new wheels and tires?
I want to get a set of black wheels for this car, and would prefer if they were original B2 wheels. Any suggestions?
Here is a picture of my car:

Re: RC10B2 Wheel and Tire availability
B2 front wheels are the hardest to find, most people can't tell the difference between B2 and B3. The rears are the same for B2 and B3 except for the late B3 which came with Pro-Line wide body Featherlite wheels (also only available in white).
B2 front 9480Y (I don't recall ever seeing these in white or black, but they are listed in the catalog)
B3 front 9481, 9481Y, 9481B
B2/3 rear 9490, 9490Y, 9490B
Ebay is pretty much the only source until you meet the requirements for the buy/sell/trade area here.
Welcome to the forum, if you search for B2 resto or B2 restoration you'll find a few build threads.
Check the scans archive for links to Associated's old catalog scans.

Re: RC10B2 Wheel and Tire availability
The wheels are getting harder and harder to find! I need a set of new yellow ones for my B2 as well. But that is for a shelf queen.
You have a runner and want black wheels. So just remove the tires with a heat gun or oven set to 350 (remove tires from wheels with gloves). Clean up the glue with a Dremel sp? and dye them black by boiling them with some Rit dye from Wally Mart. Mount some new tires and your good to go!

dynotech has rears............. http://dynotech-racing.com/partDetail.php?RefNum=9023
or you can use duratax evader rims. bx fronts......
http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXCXT5&P=SM
and "nitro" rears..............
http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXEWP3&P=SM
they come in white, yellow, green, and blue. don't try to dye them. they're plastic, not nylon.

Do these duratax wheels go right on? Meaning, the bearings I have will fit, and fit on my existing axles?scr8p wrote:dynotech has rears............. http://dynotech-racing.com/partDetail.php?RefNum=9023

I recently bought new tires at the local hobby shop, they are the 2.2 Proline M3, I'm assuming they will fit..?

Re: RC10B2 Wheel and Tire availability
The duratrax use the stock 3/16 x 3/8 bearings, and 2.2 tires are right.
Re: RC10B2 Wheel and Tire availability
This is great, thanks. One more question, did the B2 and the B3 share the same lexan body and wing? I want to make a new one as well.

The b2 and b3 bodies are different, but the b3 will fit and is still available new. The wings are the same.

Re: RC10B2 Wheel and Tire availability
Associated still has black fronts available. For a little while that is. Buy them direct from AE.
If you want all black, I would get these and pair them up with the dynotech rears (dyed black) and stay away from the Duratrax. They turn brittle wherever you apply CA. Keep your eyes peeled in the hobby stores, there are some still lingering...

Re: RC10B2 Wheel and Tire availability
Hello everyone,
Will the Duratrax Buggy wheels from Tower also fit the B3 i.e. same offset, etc.?
Many thanks for your help!
