I never cared for going fast in a boat. A friend of mine had a Sanger that would scoot pretty darned good. Have no idea how fast he'd bump it to on occasion, but he was there for show and watching bikinis, not boating and skiing.

I once went 143 in my Taurus SHO. I never topped out my old G35 or my current 540i. I just don't have the inclination anymore.

I hear you on the boat thing. I keep telling my wife, next time we go to Florida I want to get a ride on an off shore Deep Vee or Cat. I used to be friends long ago with Randy Lanier's son..... Sean. Randy was the throttle man for the old Systems Bob Kaiser Cat. I wanted to squeak a ride, but I could never hook up with Sean when they were testing.
I am not here cause I am playing photographer and on my mountain bike.

A shade over an indicated 150mph in my old SX200, a touch over 175 on my Honda Black Bird and someone still passed me on a GSX-R1000 like I was on a fizzy fifty. High speed on a bike is a strange thing, you get lulled into a sense of security because the faster you go the more stable it become due to gyroscopic forces and aerodynamics, doesn't stop the landscape getting blurry though.
Experience is that marvelous thing that enables you to recognize a mistake when you make it again.

Makes me wanna break out my Segue and put the hammer down!

Ah for the days when vintage muscle was a dime a dozen. What you don't know is that while the Ford could chase that Dodge down all day long, the film crew was in a Corvette!

yea Corvettes are great cars. my dad had a bunch of them, he would buy them smashed up, fix them, mod the motor, run slicks, and race them. then sell it and start over..he always told me mod the motor, gear them, and run slicks on a Corvette, and you had one of the fastest cars at the track.i like all muscle cars but theres something about some fords i like alot ..

" The car started life as a standard 1973 XB GT Ford Falcon Coupe, a car exclusive to Australia". " The original car is a white 1973 Ford Falcon XB GT Hardtop / Coupe. This was a standard production model available in Australia from 1973 to 1976. Being a GT, it automatically came with a 300bhp 351ci V8, 4V heads, top loader, 9 inch diff - pretty much all the standard XB GT coupe features " this is the info i got from this site http://www.madmaxmovies.com/cars/Replica/Black/index.html

Out by a year..it wasn't exactly exclusive to Australia you could buy them new here in New Zealand as well...until Japanese used imports flooded the market here, we sourced most of our cars from Australia. Mostly GM and Ford but there were also Mitsubushi's and Toyota's built in Aussie at various times..the Pontiac GTO is the only Australian built car to be sold in the USA EVER...

One of the Mad max interceptors from the movie is over here in the UK, a guy runs a museum called the cars the star, well worth the £5 to get in, he was an artist and dentist, but bought the fools and horses yellow van after they shot the first series, never expecting to need it again, so he rented them it back, and realised here was a way to make money and indulge a passion, he has Chitty chitty bang bang for weddings, batmobiles, one of the Easy rider bikes, amongst many others, and pride of place, one of only 2 genuine Kitt from the series left running.
Someone pointed out how many copies there are, and asked for provenance, he simply shows them the previous owner in book, a Mr David Hasselhoff

bearrickster wrote:Vettes are cool no matter how you look at it, I agree they have not always been the lookers they started out as. but look at everything in life? very few thing improve with age. We are not talking about Michele Pfiffer here she looks better as she ages. but thats rare. what other American car that's never sold out? the vette started out as a 6cyl and moved to V8 and stayed that way for what 57 years now?

I love all muscle cars but the new Camaro, Mustang, and Challenger's are all offering v6? what kind of brain trust thought of that. you couldnt give me one  I may rot in hell but I want a car with Balls, good sound and enough power to pull out into traffic. I know some V6's are cool GNX Grand National's but how cool would it have been a turbo or super charged V8!!

Look at Roush, Saleen, Shelby 500hp 20mgal those are cars!!

We wont even get in to the brain fart abomination Dodge Charger (4Doors) the Duke boys would rack their nuts on the B piller?? what were they thinking??
I never been a huge Camaro fan, (more of a Mustang guy) but that 300HP & 29MPG looks pretty appealing to me...Sure it doesn't have the thump of an 8, but it'll be blow dust up most imports' noses. That 300 HP beats out almost every V8 the mid 70's through late 80's had to offer. When I bought my 1st new car I thought 150HP was impressive...I couldn't afford the insurance for the added 2 cylinders. Heck, my Ridgeline will blow the doors of my Mustang now & it's only a 6 banger.

I agree with the Charger comment, them Dukes would never drive a 4 door General..Now they'd be chased by one..That Challenger is pure evil (with the Hemi)...Sweet doesn't even begin to describe it..
Projects and shelfers:
Late Edinger, RC10B2, Dual Sport, GT, Kyosho Turbo Ultima, Triumph, Tamiya Sand Scorcher, Blackfoot/Monster Beetle, '67 Beetle, Nikko Rhino, Traxxas Fiero, Slash, Hand-built Dune Buggy..all on here somewhere...
