You know you're scooting along when you can no longer hear the noise of the car and only the airflow around it!
I once did 120 in a Pinto, and I'll tell ya, I wasn't feeling any too safe, even with all the mods done to it! LOL

That one is ok, but I prefer the 78-82 series. IMHO, they quit making the Vette in '82. Only in this last year have they put a few of the respectable and beautiful curves back, once again making it something resembling a Corvette.scr8p wrote:seems to be quite the runner. now, if it only looked like this.........................

Re: Impressive Piece of Machinery
Vettes are cool no matter how you look at it, I agree they have not always been the lookers they started out as. but look at everything in life? very few thing improve with age. We are not talking about Michele Pfiffer here she looks better as she ages. but thats rare. what other American car that's never sold out? the vette started out as a 6cyl and moved to V8 and stayed that way for what 57 years now?
I love all muscle cars but the new Camaro, Mustang, and Challenger's are all offering v6? what kind of brain trust thought of that. you couldnt give me one
I may rot in hell but I want a car with Balls, good sound and enough power to pull out into traffic. I know some V6's are cool GNX Grand National's but how cool would it have been a turbo or super charged V8!!
Look at Roush, Saleen, Shelby 500hp 20mgal those are cars!!
We wont even get in to the brain fart abomination Dodge Charger (4Doors) the Duke boys would rack their nuts on the B piller?? what were they thinking??

Re: Impressive Piece of Machinery
That is impressive.
I've only gotten to 155 (ran out of room) and it's a really wierd feeling...it felt like I was going 55. You can hear the rush of wind, but it was actually uneventful. Can't say the same thing about the guy on the sport bike that I was racing at the time
He almost lost it around a sweeper.
With that said, my favorite car scene is when the interceptor was closing in on the bike in mad max

highwayracer

Hey now, I ain't all that new! LOLscr8p wrote:he's new. we'll have to let him slide.badhoopty wrote:havent we had this discussion before?Halgar wrote:That one is ok, but I prefer the 78-82 series. Previous discussion or no, prove me wrong. While many a car has worn the Corvette badge, they did quit making THE corvette back in '82. That is not to say that the impostor didn't post some impressive numbers, it did indeed, it just wasn't a Corvette anymore when they took an iron to the sheet metal, or in this case fiberglass. I'm just glad that GM has come to it's senses and started putting back a few of the noteworthy curves. If I were a Camero man I'd say the same thing when they went to the wedge over the voluptuous curves that the beauty of the 60's had. Thank God for the retro Camero! Even the Firebird turned into a lifeless brick. through the 80's and 90's.
