Ok all you early Edinger kit guys..
...who's got the early spine plate with an e-clip instead of a locknut on the outdrive pivot? Note that this is a larger e-clip than the idler gear pivot...

I'm about to tear down my new built Edinger car to clean the plastic parts and will report about the spine plate with pictures!

Re: Ok all you early Edinger kit guys..
oh temple, why did you have to bring this subject up.....................
as you might remember, when i got my edinger kit, it was partially assembled, and all of the patrs were dyed red. well, all of the red parts i dyed black, and used them to build my early tq10. well......... guess where those trans internals are? yup, at volumiza's house somewhere in england. at the time, i didn't have all of the white parts i needed to complete the trans for my edinger car. so i used all of the internals on the tq10, and didn't think twice about it. it even has the dyed red idlers in it.
the only reason i know this now is because i torn my trans apart, mainly to prove i had one
, but then i put the trans together, i used the black idlers. since i couldn't come up with any white ones. after the car was built, i found nip white ones. so, i figured i'd switch them around while it was apart. that's when i noticed what i had done.
it amazing how mad i can get over something you can't even see with the car together. but i'm friggin' pissed off right now.
hopefully....... one day volumiza will pop in here and i'll see if he'd swap internals with me. i haven't seen him around in quite some time, so fingers crossed..........................

ahh, don't feel bad. it's just one of those things. whatcha gonna do.
the car didn't come with chrome rims neither, so it's not like it 100% accurate from the kit anyway. i'm sure eventually it'll be correct. one day.

Re: Ok all you early Edinger kit guys..
Well, I couldn't help but to tear down my 6-gear tranny to check it out. Though my car looks like a "middle late" Edinger (no fiberglass battery straps and no large rear spring cups, Edinger address on the box, Cadillac on the manual) with Goodyear rear tires, diamond shaped wing holders, double servo saver and early gear cover, it doesn't have the e-clip on the outdrive gear pivot. What surprised me when opening the tranny was that one idler gear is clean while the other one is greasy. I'm 100% sure the car has never been run and that it is unaltered in any way...
Jason, this should releive you a bit as yours looks to be a later release (no double servo saver), which means that it most probably didn't include the now famous e-clip. Anyway, you'll have to wait until Volumiza shows up before being able to sleep again
I wonder if the picture in the manual was taken from a prototype of some sort, which could mean that it was never produced... Let's wait and see if someone does have one...

Re: Ok all you early Edinger kit guys..
maybe it was just wishful thinking that my kit actually had it. but i'm 99.9% sure that it did. the only way i'll know is if vol tears the trans from my old tq10 apart.
well, i put it back together. atleast it has brand new white idler gears now.

Re: Ok all you early Edinger kit guys..
ya, i have that supplement sheet, as well as a smaller one just for the drive gear pivot. so, maybe mine did have the one with the nut to start with. i just remember it having the one for the e-clip. but, i could be wrong.
on the back of my large supplement sheet, it even notes about all four spring cups now being the same front and rear.

Re: Ok all you early Edinger kit guys..
I really think it was only included in the very early Edinger kits, those with the fiberglass battery straps and large spring cups. I can imagine the mess it could be inside the tranny when that e-clip is bent or loose
