Marui Samauri ....anyone have photos?
Marui Samauri ....anyone have photos?
Besides the Gold Tub RC10, and the Jrx2, (and Tamiya Frog, but I can get as a re-issue anytime) this is the 1 other vehicle I used to have fun with as a kid.
Anyone have some good photos of a restore? I saw one a couple years back NIB, but I did not have the cash at the time to snatch it up.

Re: Marui Samauri ....anyone have photos?
There was a nice picture not so long ago I think in this part of the forum, or maybe it was the shogun? I keep mixing these 2 up all the time
Try the search function (yes I know it's not all that good)
Tamiyaclub will surely have some good pics also
But you 'll have to look for 'samurai' , not 'samauri' as you spelled it in the subject

The Marui Samurai ROCKS!! darryn and I both own a couple of runners and they are simply cool! Would you believe they are actually quite easy to drive on the race track?

Here is a pic of mine just after it's first "trial" run - after being new built from parts:

NOTE: I said ** WAS ** a brand new built car before this meeting!

Will see if I can dig up the "before" pics!
Cheers

Re: Marui Samauri ....anyone have photos?
Ok- I have the opportunity to pick up a Samurai, but it's missing some parts. To all you experts (unfortunately 1/2 a planet away), how difficult are usuable wheels (missing one front), front dogbones (both missing) and rear wings to find?
I would make this a runner as I've always been interested in how these buggies go, so I won't mind running different rubber (what size are the wheels?) and I could source a lexan wing somewhere else. I guess what this comes down to is can I ever find front dogbones or does that task make this purchase futile?
Thanks for any help-- and y2kgtp I don't mean to jack your thread but all these Samurai owners in one place I had to at least ask!! Plus the answers may help your search too!

Im pretty sure the dog bones from the 'ZERDA' are a dirrect fit. As for the rims, you'll most likely never find a set as these are ultra rare. I have a second complete set of used rims that I may trade for. The rear wing could do with being replaced with an aluminum item as the original tends to brake rather easy.

Re: Marui Samauri ....anyone have photos?
Thanks for the info. Can you run any other rims on there? It looks like the adapter is just a textured plate and it uses pressure mount (nut presses the plastic against the adapter). Is that correct? How is the adapter on the axle-- taper, crosspin, something else? I'm wondering if Tamiya adapters of some sort would fit. I wouldn't mind using other vintage wheels on it.

They are a taper fit - I havent experimented much - however it should not be too hard to get something to adapt to the standard axles. I intend to go down the front universal drive shaft road when I get around to modifiying my runner (see "ËX" new built above!
). You could also run Tamiya Hotshot tires - or anything in that sized tire - plenty of grip available from those old school tires yet to be honest - especially if you are sensible with you motor choice!
They really are a bit of a surprise to drive to be honest. I was not expexting alot from mine - especially as my only real drives of mine were had over 15 or so years ago! The car is very stable (in relative terms to other vehicles from the period), and exhibits quite a turn of speed. The 3 differential drive system rally makes the difference when putting down the power though, this car will S M O K E a hotshot in stand trim.
You will not regret making the effort to restore and or run it - they are a great car - and highly under rated.
Cheers
