To Drill or Not To Drill?

I'm having a tough time deciding to drill holes in my graphite chassis to install my stealth tranny that I got from mrlexan. I have search the site to help me decide what to do, but I am still left on the fence. The chassis is in fairly good condition, in my opinion, so I'm thinking of keeping it original. It came with a 6 gear tranny, I over seen the installation process and now left to either drill holes, get a new used rolling chassis, or sell the stealth...now, what am I to do?

What do you guys, and gals think??????

Is it a runner? The chassis isn't that pristine. Drill away! The Stealth is by far a better tranny... If you wanted to keep it with the original 4 bolt pattern of the 6 gear and not drill anymore holes, you could always seek out an MIP trans instead of the Stealth.

lol, i love the fact you guys think i should drill . I made the effort to make this car up to date, so to speak, and better than it was, so why not! It's truly what I had planned, it was just that a respected friend said he wouldn't touch it. I guess he is entitled to his opinion.

As for the arms, I'll check on that and change them over if they should be. I do have dyslexia, but i didn't think it effected me that bad, woo

oh yeah, what's the best way to line up the hole to drill them out

There's a template out there that you can use to make sure everything is aligned properly. I can understand where your friend is coming from with keeping it stock, but with the condition of the chassis with the scrapes and scratches four more holes isn't going to devalue it any. If it was new or had never seen a curb, I'd say leave it alone for sure!

you can also bolt a chassis drilled for the stealth on your graphite and you have a nice template as well...

that would be ideal, but I don't have anyone around or know anyone with a stealth equipped chassis

i will likely hunt down that template and print it off from on-line if I can find it.

on the other hand I took care of my rear amr mounts, which were on the wrong side good eyes guys, many thanks

If you plan on running it with newer motors/esc's, drill it, run the stealth and dont look back. Shelf queen: wet sand the chassis and leave the 6 gear in it.


My gut says you plan on running it.....

if you do a nice job drilling and countersinking the stealth holes, and while your at it countersink the 2 holes at the rear of the chassis for the motor guard, no one will ever know it started life as a 6 gear.
