Chassis protection?
Chassis protection?
Has anyone tried clear window tint/film to protect the bottom of the chassis? I think this stuff comes clear to protect the hood and bumpers of 1:1 size cars.

Re: Chassis protection?
I tried it but it doesn't stick as well as the chassis protect stuff from ae or jconcepts. JConcepts stuff is almost clear and the AE stuff is not as tranaparent.

Re: Chassis protection?
There were previous posts about this subject. Motorcycle racers use some kind of clear plastic film to cover the number plates and I believe it can be purchased at motorcycle dealers that sell parts for racers. Dirt track or motocross racing bikes that is.

Over here in Manila, racers use 3M Bathtub Tape, the clear one, as graphite chassis protection. It should also be an option. It's thick, adheres well and can be re-used

Re: Chassis protection?
And a few years back I bought a 10x2ft of ski-protecting transparent roll tape from an online US ski shop whose name I can't remember, and price was peanuts... it's lasted me till this summer for outdoors TC racing and I can't figure out where the heck it came from to save my life
It is great stuff, especially as it was dirt cheap (like 2$/ft or something), way less efficient than the AE film which is still the very best I've ever tried, though!

Re: Chassis protection?
called Ski Saver....I found a 100 ft roll at my job when we were cleaning out the old DC to move to the new DC. Pretty thick and works really well.

that rings a bell indeedJK Racing wrote:called Ski Saver....I found a 100 ft roll at my job when we were cleaning out the old DC to move to the new DC. Pretty thick and works really well.
and indeed it IS thick, which can mess up the roll-center/ride-height combo a bit for onroad... non-issue for offroad tho
Will start looking for some, I guess.
scr8p, are you talking about ski saver coming from 3M? not sure what you were exactly referring to
