What do you think of the new forum?
I will leave my views until later as I'd like to hear from others first.
Needless to say though, I think it is extremely complicated. But maybe that's because I have only just noticed the changes and am not used to them...

Re: What do you think of the new forum?
Change is good... I've got some in my pocket right now.
I am fairly neutral about it - I like the more specific separation of the topics, but it seems like there is more stuff to look through to keep on top of things. I'm still looking at the same areas I was before, but now I look at others as well to make sure I am seeing all the posts I am interested in. It actually might make posts easier to find since they are divided up more specifically now.

Well, since I have SEVERE CDO (like OCD, but in alaphabetical order, THE WAY IT SHOULD BE!!!!
,
), I now have to spend a good bit more time on the internet than I used too.
I "had" NO interest in any other Vintages before I came here, but of course, after looking around at other Members stuff, NOW I DO. Only wanted ONE decent Vintage AE Buggy Runner, but now have a Runner, a Early Semi-Runner/Shelfer, AND my Tamiya Trophy Truck. When Im able, I wanna get a couple old Tamiya Buggys, then Im sure the SICKNESS will continue on to ALL the other Brands.
In the voice of Vinton Harper ("Mama's Family"),
"THANKS A LOT RC10TAAAALK!!!!"

Re: What do you think of the new forum?
yes, there is. once the old posts from the general forum, reader's rc10s, non-rc10 forum are moved they will either go away, or become something else. i know right now it seems like there is a couple forums for the same thing. but, i wanted to leave those open yet so people could still look through them, and post to the newer topics. i just asked that if someone was gonna start a new topic about... lets say a new kyosho build, put it in the new "kyosho forum for example.mikedealer wrote:i think there are a few unneeded and probably unused (in the future) categories

Re: What do you think of the new forum?
and that holy double post will not make life easier Batman
I also like the way the forum is now divided, especially for the different brands, I also feel like I have to spend more time to read the same things... by the way, what's the difference between the RR forum and the buggy forum? I guess it's just a start and things will get clearer in the near future... at least we kept the name

Re: What do you think of the new forum?
Great for newcomers having troubles with the search function (like everyone else).
Having read the old long ago, I've been clicking the 'view new posts' link most of the time after i dicovered it last year.
Just wondering where I should post the next vintage event pictures with all those different brands present
And where do I put my hybrids and multi-breed bastards?

Re: What do you think of the new forum?
there's gonna be the same amount of post whether they're in 5 forums or 20.mikedealer wrote:i do like it and having lots of categories to be honest, reading 5 was just easier lol, and im lazy

and since i'm already typing a message....................

give it a little while to get used to it. it's been setup this way less than 2 days. and like i said before, it's still not really done. the plan to do this has been in the works for quite some time. we've been wanting to have a tech section forever. now we have 2 (maybe 3 if one gets added in the "vintage non-rc10 section). so much good information gets losts, especially in the general forum. now there's a dedicated place for it.
the biggest reason for this change was to blow out the non-rc10 forum. that forum was a complete mess, imho, and it needed to be cleaned up. i, as well as others, could not stand having to go past for example 10 kyosho and schumacher posts to get to a losi or yokomo post. now, if you want to look for losi stuff, you can go right to the "losi forum".
in closing, give it a chance. it was the same way when we changed from the 2.0.0 version to the 3.0.0 version of the forum awhile back. ya, things were different. but we all got used to it.

Re: What do you think of the new forum?
Hey don't get me wrong I don't mind change and I like how the place is being developed and I appreciate the work you guys as mods all put in. I am just trying to be constructive. Not negative.
I was just really surprised this morning.
I do also like how the non-vintage RC section is split into brands but then there's a whole lot of other stuff which seems a bit superfluous. Maybe I'll get used to it, but with web design you're meant to limit the amount of clicks to get between different pages. I keep getting lost and stuck in sub-forums.
It's probably just me though.

Re: What do you think of the new forum?
No one ever like change, I think it is in our nature to resist it.
Like everyone has said, give it some time. Some of the Topics will go away over time. You have no idea how long it takes to filter through 500 threads in the Non-RC10 Vintage Forum and move them. It is like an hour per page of threads. Once we have them all moved then some of the standard ones will be removed.
It will be the same amount of reading as Scr8p suggested, just more clicking of the mouse.

I am not here cause I am playing photographer and on my mountain bike.

there's one issue, i'm no web desinger, or computer literate.Dr. Robotnik wrote: but with web design you're meant to limit the amount of clicks to get between different pages.

i took me over 2hrs. to figure out how to make new "categories" to house the related forums.

my plan was to add subforms to the non-rc10 forum for example. that way when you clicked on it, it would take you to all of the losi, yokomo, etc. forums. but, i thought that was actually more confusing then how i eventually laid it out. now, when you sign on, everything is right out in the open.

Re: What do you think of the new forum?
just my opinion, but i would go by the chassis manufacturer. that's really the main part of the car anyway. if your really unsure, you could always put them in the "other makes/models forum", too.Mr. ED wrote:Just wondering where I should post the next vintage event pictures with all those different brands present![]()
