But it's not really a compromise when the new body is exactly the same once the protective film comes off? Dunno how it could be worth twice what a discontinued Protech 2 goes for!
its a compromise when your building something to make a quick buck, but i'm building one of each of the cars and i want (what i know to be) original stuff simple as that.

Great news Mr.L. The sellers have been becoming increased targets of guys running up the bid too high and not following thru. Glad it worked out for you as in the original post.

Yeah, but if I could get everyone else to pay, that would be great.

First, let me say, I DO appreciate international bidders and the world economy, but one thing that is bothering me is, it seems that everyone overseas is bidding without investigating on shipping price first. Then when I send an invoice with the shipping price, I don't hear squat and have to file. Listing, filing, and relisting is a four week process..... I don't want to hold onto some of this stuff that long. It's a pain in the a$$. I can't do anything about shipping, it is what it is, over 4lbs or over 36 inches combined LWH, it has to go Priority International which is not cheap.

Although it might be more noticeable on sites like Tamiya Club, these prices are not out of the question. If I buy something from some of the well known sellers in the East, like jr-rc or f1tam, shipping for kits is $40.00, $60.00, on up. So when I send an invoice for a complete car for $35.00, I don't understand why everyone is freaking out. I think that price is cheap when you consider the price of oil/gas and the value of the dollar.

Don't take any of the above (some might) that I am in this for a profit, I AM NOT. I have just collected so much crap over the years, I need to push what I don't want out the door. I use this as a means to fuel my desire as a hobbyist/collector. The problem, it always looks like there is no end to it and I can't stop..... I NEED MY FIX.

A complete car here UK to Uk could well cost £12 or $24 recorded so $35 across the pond doesn't sound unreasonable to me. What got me was a seller offering e-revos at $45 post and coming through on the deal, then Towerhobbies offering me a $60 international discount, and when I go to buy, only shipping option is $161
So stick wit it jay, sounds a good deal to me, just a pity about the new ebay system as you say, puts me off listing some of mine, I have to say.

I got an abused traxxas wildcat from Sweden and it cost me $55 shipping but not sure if the seller made up for the lack of auction price in shipping. The tag said nothing of a cost on it when I got it. Meaning I don't get it either. I used to sell 'slot car' cases on ebay and shipped all over the world. Had the same thing happen several times where they didn't check in ahead of time then squawked about shipping prices even after stating in the auction I didn't make anything off shipping and to check first with a quote so not to be shocked with the invoice. With fees constantly hiking and everything going up ebay/paypal wise I called it quits after 5 years of selling. Now I'll only sell on ebay if I have to.

thanks mrL, and thanks for beng understanding about my late payment. i usually like to pay immediately but i couldn't be sure to get access to a computer. and i have to say i've found all your shipping prices very reasonable, while i'm at it i have to say ALL the guys here that i've bought off have been very helpful and reasonable with shipping costs.

One method I used in the past, I don't know if it works in US and only good if you are doing buy it nows.
I had 5 £90 kits to sell, so buy it now, and we can specify immediate paypal, so it remains on sale till paid for.
That sorts out the timewasters, tyrekickers etc.

i kind of figured it wasn't, if for any reason i won't be able to pay anyone more or less immediately i always pre-warn people, thanks for the reassurance anyway, i'm a sensitive soul
