Well I did it. I finally ate at a waffle house. I can now mark that off my bucket list along with steak and shake, Bob Evans, and White Castle all from this trip
I will also say, My waitress needed me to cash out because she was late to meet up with her po so yes, waffle house is exactly what I thought it would be

Just to make my crazy trip complete, this guy lost his license and didn't know until he got to tsa. Here's how it went. First went back to thrifty just in case since they were the last I showed it to. Then I had to go get a paper boarding pass. Then sat down and got quizzed, then she called it in which was a half hour wait where they asked more questions. Finally got the ok. Then had to go through the bad TSA where they rip everything out of your bags and inspect em. Had to explain to be careful with the body lol. quickly corrected to say RC car body
I'm just gonna say, if I make it home tonight im gonna sleep like a baby but at this point I'm fully expecting to spend the night in Denver cause my plane will be delayed or cancelled

Wow! Glad it came a week later. Yeah, it's soaked all around here and KY.

Great production quality on that video. Funny seeing that Losi jacket so many times. I had one but it was stolen from the grocery store I worked at bitd. Wish I still had it.

Great video and a fantastic tribute to Dunbar!
Like everyone, I have a Dunbar story. By the time I realized there was a place to actually race like they did in the magazines, I was already building my full scale race car. I didn't take RC racing seriously at all. My only contribution to the hobby is spending money in it.
Brian was the hot shot at my local track; he won everything. Once, the track hosted a huge event with hundreds of racers coming from all over the eastern US. I was curious to see how Brian held up against these guys. They were obviously far more serious than the local crowd. My only frame of reference was drag racing. There was a hierarchy among the local drag racers, but when the IHRA national event tour came around each year, the top locals were totally outclassed by the professionals. So that was my expectation. Nope. Brian put his XX on pole and drove away for an easy win, just like he did every other week.
I got out of RC racing in 95 and went to play with full scale cars. After about a decade, I got curious and decided to search the internet to see if "that kid" ever made it out of Louisville. I started by searching for Worlds races after I quit, so the 97 Worlds was the first I searched.
And there was Brian, on the podium, between BK and Masami!
