In 2000 Kyosho unveiled a line of all new 1/10 4wd road and rally vehicles under the PureTen Alpha banner. Available as both and electric (EP) and nitro (GP) the new Alpha line of models, which would include a Subaru Imprezza, Ford Focus, Peugeot 206, Honda S2000, and Dodge Ram, were sold as completely assembled and painted ready-to-run models:
EP: The electric Pureten Alpha rode on a heavily ribbed molded plastic minitub chassis with four-wheel independent short lower a-arm and fixed camber link suspension, dual bellcrank steering with built in servo saver and fixed plastic tie rod links, molded plastic shock towers, and coilover plastic friction shocks. The rear mounted 20-turn X-Speed 540 motor drove a three-gear transmission with a bevel gear differential inside a sealed case. An exposed drive pully held a ribbed belt that stretched forward past a tension adjuster to a second pulley mounted to the sealed front differential case which contained its own bevel gear differential. Dogbone axles at all four corners attached via 12mm hex's to the 2in. single piece plastic wheels with rubber tires. A chassis stiffening plastic top deck that connected the front and rear bulkheads held the ESC and receiver for the Prefex radio system while the included transversely mounted stick pack battery crossed underneath. A large plastic front bumper and battery charger were also included with the kit.
GP: The nitro Pureten Alpha sported a very Inferno-esque stamped aluminum chassis with 8-degrees of front kickup and raised side rails. It would use the same four-wheel independent short lower a-arm and fixed camber link suspension, dual bellcrank steering with built in servo saver, fixed plastic tie rod links, molded plastic shock towers, and coilover plastic friction shocks as the EP version however the midship mounted recoil start GX-12 engine would connect via a pinion and spur primary drive directly to the bevel geared rear differential inside its sealed case. A driveshaft keyed to the spur gear and rear differential extended forward, with no center diff, to the sealed case bevel gear front differential. Dogbone axles at all four corners attached via 12mm hex's to the 2in. single piece plastic wheels with rubber tires. A Prefex radio system, sealed radio box, flip top gas tank and large plastic front bumper were also included with the kit.

Re: Kyosho PureTen Alpha Ep & GP
I loved that Colin McRae/ Nicky Grist WRC Focus with the Martini livery. Carlos Sainz (father of the Williams F1 driver) raced one as well.
