Kyosho Inferno MP7.5

Post by Dangeruss »

In 2000 Kyosho would completely redesign it's 1/8 4wd Nitro powered off-road racing buggy to create the Inferno MP-7.5. Now in its seventh generation the moniker of the latest Inferno celebrated the five IFMAR World Championships the Inferno had won, thus Model Project #7 and 5 wins resulted in the Inferno MP-7.5. Rather than evolve the previous MP-6 the 7.5 rode on an entirely new Duraluminum chassis that offered 8 degrees of kickup, 3mm shorter wheelbase and featured pressed in reliefs to allow the differentials to sit as lower than before. A revised four-wheel independent suspension with longer double a-arms, aluminum front knuckles and plastic rear carriers widened the Inferno's track by 2mm. Also updated was the twin bellcrank steering system with built in servo saver and adjustable tie rods under a new aluminum top brace. Redesigned aluminum shock towers at both ends held aluminum bodied oil-filled coilover Turbo Shocks with clip in spring adjusters. Not to leave well enough alone Kyosho also completely revamped the four-wheel drive system with smaller bevel gear differentials inside redesigned gearcases front, rear, and center to allow for the lowest center of gravity possible. Universal axles were installed in the front end while dogbones were chosen for the center drive shafts and rear axles. Traditional 17mm hexes keyed into ten spoke single piece plastic wheels holding a set of step-pin tires and the whole buggy was brought to a halt by a pair of disk brakes front and rear. A new clear lexan body, molded plastic wing and mounts, rear sway bar, flip-top gas tank, sealed radio box and complete set of bearings were included in the unassembled kit, though the required .21 engine, exhaust and radio were not.

Additionally Kyosho would offer the Inferno MP-7.5 in four different ready to run Sports trims that replaced the DX models as well as three different Kanai trims, named after Kyosho team driver Yuichi Kanai, which took the place of the International as the top spec model:

I got out of the hobby just about that time the MP 7.5 came out, I was so close to buying the Inferno MP 777, the special limited edition, back then.

I haven't seen you post the Kyosho Racing Kart 10 yet, that's one I always wanted too.

Cool car, the 777... one of the few times I'd choose a buggy over the truck (777 ST-R)... the buggy just looked cooler.

Oddly, don't have a copy of the Racing Kart ad. Will post it if I find one though.

Well, the listing does have a coupon for 8% off so that's like buying an rc car and making $184 at the same time, right?!?!
