Fan RC FR-01 Worlds RC10 Blue kit

I recently bought and built this Fan RC FR-01 Blue Version kit. I added the Fan RC forged carbon chassis, towers, transmission brace, and battery brace. I also added a Jconcepts motor plate.

Besides the above upgrades, I built the kit basically stock. I swapped just a few pieces of hardware for aluminum units. I was very impressed with the quality of the kit. I didn't have any issues building it. Although I have never built an AE re-re kit, I think this kit is better quality. These shock bodies are far superior to AE.

I don't typically like blue on AE cars, however I really loved this blue kit. I know it's not for everyone, but it really works for me.

I'm still not sure what I'm going to do with it, but it was a fun and easy build and I love the result.

That is sweet looking, the forged carbon looks wicked.
Really like the color of the shock bodies along with the blue.
The upgrades are nice choices
Any plans for some rubber and paint ?

Nice build!! The black/blue theme definitely works for me.
Having both AE rere's and FanRC, Fan's quality is definitely superior. I really hope he survives the war.

The FR-01 is a great car. I have an earlier one and only really had few complaints: Steering belcranks rubbing and coming loose if used as is (I just added spacers underneath and used longer screws to get more bite) and my earlier model had a binding issue in the gears, which they have since fixed. I did have an issue with the diff rings too but apparently 1 side is smoother than the other so flipping the offending ring solved the gritty feel.

You have any of the above issues or have they all been fixed since?

I knew about the need for a spacer under the bell ranks before building the kit. I added an aluminum washer under each. I would also swap for some longer screws before driving the car, but the included screws are in for now.

I gave the diff rings a quick sanding with 1200 grit sandpaper. The diff is smooth and went together very easy. I always look for the smoother side on diff rings, and the sanding just adds another level of insurance.

The ball cups in the kit are great. Easy to thread, and a good fit on the ballstuds.

Yeah their ballcups are leagues better than the AE ones. They actually fit!
