Family photo! On the left are NESC 1X, 1, and 4 with 3 screw cases and 4 wire leads. On the right NESC 2 and 4 with taped closed cases and 3 wire leads.

Novak made at least two versions of the NESC 2

There is both an early version:
3 wire
no case screws
extra FET hole in case
older FET layout
one less FET than 1X model
no model ID on label

and a later version:
4 wire
3 screw case
revised FET layout
same number of FETs as 1X
2 on the label
