I mean there is a reason im bring different tires and compounds. Also the dirt there is an unknown factor, the track is normally hard packed but we get to run on it before its packed unsure about the composition. Also the track conditions will surely change a bit throughout the weekend. Half the fun of old school dirt was fighting the ever changing track conditions.
Consistency is the key I keep misplacing.

Yup. FWIW, in 4wd buggy in October, I ran M4 bow ties and crime fighters and it hooked up very nicely, despite being hard packed. Maybe the track being blown out at the end of the season benefitted deeper treads. I also tried green flipouts in 2wd buggy. They gripped nicely but wore very quickly, so by the mains the rear was all over the place. I would not tend toward spike treads unless the loam is genuinely deep. Anything on the shallow-ish side and you're better off with a square-like tread, such as holeshots, bow ties, etc.

It will be warmer in April than it is now for sure, but it's an indoor track and so the surface temperature will be lower than it is outside. I haven't used M3 or JConcepts Blue unless it's like 80F outside, so my bet is on super soft.

Bring whatever you have that you think will work. It's all we can do right now. I have no idea as to what we should expect.

I'm just looking to hang out and have some fun. I'm finishing up a Composite Craft Worlds car for 2wd and a parts bin 10t for stadium truck. I was gifted an RB10 rtr last week which I will probably run in Y2K. Just have to refill the shocks and swap in better electronics. I'll probably just run the kit tires, too.

Yeah I doubt that.

Been crazy about RC since I’m a little kid, 44 now and still haven’t been to a track and or event of any kind. Even though it would only be to hang and spectate this is close enough for me and my two sons to shoot up on Sunday. Looking forward to it, thanks Jason 8)
Who do you race for ?
Me……. I race for me.
That’s impossible, I was told you need a sponsor to race.
Hey Cru ! Go balls out 8)

Did a little testing today with tires and the fairly loamy surface of the basher area at RC Madness. Figured I'd share my findings, granted this dirt could be completely different from what's at Insanity

The Kyosho Block Tire Soft worked OK but would probably be better suited for blue groove conditions. They just seemed too soft to really dig into this surface and were a bit "mushier" in the corners.

I decided to forgo the other soft tires at this point and went onto the harder ones.

2 most notable ones for me as Schumacher Blocks (CAT) and Mezzo both in yellow compound. I think these are going to be me goto for the weekend but i'll bring some other things as backup.

The Blocks are a 2" tire. They have great straight line traction and predictable manners when turning. They don't seem to cake up in the wet sections and shed mud pretty well.

The Mezzos kinda surprised me. These are usually my goto tire for Carpet and Turf but here we are on loamy dirt and they are hooking up really well. Very confident in the corners but cake up a bit in wet sections.

For sure. Saturday is open practice so you can drop a car on the track and just turn laps no racing required.

Dumb question, but what time does open practice start on Saturday?

Edit: nevermind. It's in the first post ;)

They have benches and power, but you'll have to bring your own chair. The benches are on the taller side, so you won't really be able to work on your car while sitting down.
