In 1996, a year after Kyosho debuted the TF-2 (Touring Force 2) as an option over the Pure Ten EP Spider 1/10 4wd electric touring car, they released the TF-2 Type R as the full race model in the lineup. Based on a narrower double deck carbon fiber plate chassis with cutouts for saddle pack battery mounting the Type R used longer symmetrical lower a-arms and turnbuckle camber links front and rear. Ball bearing mounted twin bellcrank steering guided the car with turnbuckle adjustable tie rods while damping came by way of hard anodized and teflon coated oil filled coilover shocks at all four corners fastened to a pair of carbon fiber shock towers. Just as the standard TF-2 the mid mounted motor transferred power through a pinion and spur primary and twin belt final drive system, though the open gearcases that doubled as suspension mounting bulkheads now featured a ball differential in the rear and one-way bearing up front that led to metal universal axles shafts. 5 spoke white nylon wheels were wrapped inside Kyosho Super Grip rubber tires with unique narrow versions up front. A transverse battery mount, smaller front bumper, and full complement of bearings were included with the kit which was sold less body, electronics, and radio:

Re: Kyosho Pure Ten TF-2 Type R
I like the Piranha battery in the ad. Such a mean looking battery.
