My RC104WD came in today. I literally just sharpie'd the shipping box and stuck it on a shelf in the garage. I don't think I have been less enthusiastic about getting a RC car in my life. Just weird how this all worked out.
I feel you. I have a Tamiya Brat, Kyosho Turbo Scorpion, Jammin Jay RC10, and YZ-10 sitting in the boxes.
The only thing that I've done to any of them was remove the lexan Brat body for another project. The Brat will use the hard body.
Yeah me too, still have my 870c rere sitting in the box. Was totally disappointed when it came with gear diffs and average shocks.
The shocks suck and should have had more down travel and better shock caps with a bleeder. I ended up using some Kyosho ones from my JJ ultima since I had gone with big bores on that car. Much better travel, and not a huge pain in the ass to bleed.
The gear diffs are sealed and oil filled, actually pretty good, especially for carpet and turf tracks.

I shimmed mine, took 2-3 shims per side. Luckily I have them on hand, they are 3/8 shims. Not sure your availability being imperial size
When they started reproducing stealth cases, they were too narrow. I didn't know that and bought 2 sets. So maybe now the 4wd kit comes with correct sized stealth cases and the diff outdrives for the narrower stealth cases? Maybe I have the right parts to mix and match without shims? Hmmm

That's exactly it, they mistakingly made the cases narrow for the first kits (DS and 10T) so the fix was to narrow up the outdrives. They have since fixed the cases (team car, 4wd) but haven't un-fixed the outdrives yet.

I went ahead and ordered one. Most places are already out of stock, so I bought it from Stormer. No coupon or points but I didn't have to pay sales tax.
Always looking for new and interesting ways to waste money.

how do you mess something up like that to begin with. is that the reason everybodys havin issues with outdrives not engaging the axle pins like they should?
No, that's a whole different problem lol. According to my conversation, the factory is just in such a hurry to get stuff out that they don't have time or desire to fix it, instead just bandaiding it. The CV problem was a problem in 2013 for the first rere and they just never have corrected it.

Hi guys is there a lexan undertray that will fit the 4wd? i got one for my fan but one of those ain't going to fit.. just don't want to scrape it up like others I have, I could plotter some thick vinyl but I'd prefer a tray.
Cheers
Jon
Interesting solution to the outdrive issue in this vid.. btw
