PB Maxima vintage find
Grabbed this Last week off an awesome local seller.
Never had a PB before, always coveted an Ace, but never seen one in the flesh so the maxima was hard to resist.
Looks in pretty good shape as promised, needs some hubs and the driveshafts/bearings etc need love but nothing too drastic.
Also if anyone has any experience renovating the quick release battery set up id quite like to use that too with some oval cased LiPo's
Would appreciate any advice around parts compatibility please, I've ordered some Yeah Racing alloy boomerang drive hubs as these are direct fit and found some shape ways bits, but with its age some of the components look like they could be substituted for a runner, like the rear hubs and front knuckles for optima?
Quite liking the retro bodyshell too.
Cheers

Re: PB Maxima vintage find
Started the strip down and in particular the belt tensioner unit, mine was crunch to turn, and went about replacing the bearings but found this roller bearings in my "oooh thats shiny" box, its only 12.5mm diameter, the original is 14, but m3 thread on each side to replace the rubber roller?
I think it came from an old industrial computer program toshiba 10mm tape loader?
Either that or a 14mm rubber unit on Aliexpress, just need to fit some thin wall 3-4mm tubing on the inner bearing. The nly other option for a 3mm internal diameter was 16mm o/d, which would rub on the belt when installed.

Re: PB Maxima vintage find
Sort of, been sourcing some alloy bits for the suspension towers, going to cut some glass ones as the plastic ones are so old now the plastic is deteriorated.
As have the outlive knuckles, I'm hoping hotshot or similar can replace these.
I have sourced new suspension pins, fasteners, and bearings.
New belts are tricky, too, but im confident I have one now
Im just working on a Lazer zx atm, then the PB was next..
Thanks for your interest.

Re: PB Maxima vintage find
So after spending ages mucking around on fusion 360 i went old school on the chassis, scanned and printed it and been playing around with different ideas, because we can,
Its a hobby, after all, snd quite a lot of fun,so we can try stuff and bin it if it doesnt work.

Re: PB Maxima vintage find
When i got the car, it had both Maxima and mini mustang chassis.
Im getting some parts kindly 3D printed up by a contributor here so decided to morph them together and give it a bashing with the dremmel.
See how it turns out.
Also found a supply of MXL belts if anyone needs them, 318 teeth
