I just think that "real" shock absorbers (not plastic body) would have been nicer and certainly more effective.
There was an alloy upgrade shock set.... shocks that came standard on the next model (PB Ace) were available as an upgrade. They were pretty ugly, though. I've put Schumacher shocks all round on previous PBs, and they (or any other manufacturer shock) do fit, but you may need to consider strengthening the shock mounting points and shock towers.

Hello,
I'm proud to win the august Build of the month contest with my Maxima
Now i'm looking for the 2 speed option and PB Ace alloy shocks to upgrade it.

You might well be surprised to hear that these shocks can be made to work very well. I know because I had my doubts too at one stage.
1. Polish those damned shock shafts. Under all that ugly black/brown or what ever crap which comes standard on these shock shafts you will reveal a shiny chrome shaft that when coupled with some decent O ring seals these units actually work well.
2. Pay attention to build method. Lubricate all the seals thoroughly including the O ring on the top bleed screw.
3. Play around with oil levels and utilize that bleed valve. Push that shock shaft all the way in and leave that bleed screw most of the way out. Allow the pressure to work out surplus oil at the top valve then when the flow ceases, nip up the bleed valve screw.
Seriously it's not that hard. I won't use any other after market dampers on my PB's because I really believe that for their time, the design was extremely good. I've run both my Mustang and Maxima at the track and found these shocks to hold up well.
Cheers- Jason
Hi Jason,
I 've never driven this car and I don't know if the dampers are effective, but I believe in your experience. If I found PB Ace dampers that would be just for the look
