Xxt differential gear A-3076

Post by Losiguy82 »

Hi everyone, this is my first post. I have recently got my old xxt out from when I was a kid., and now having my own son I have been trying to get it back running again. I remembered when I put it away I had a rotational clicking noise coming from the transmission. I finally figured it out. I put the car together when I was about 13 or 14. I just figured out that it had the wrong gear in it from day 1. It had the xx diff gear not the xxt gear, which is 1 tooth bigger. I never caught this when I put it together and somehow it lived for a good while running it. Anyway, I started searching for the correct gear (a-3076). The only thing I found was on eBay for about $80. I didn't really want to spend that much for 1 little plastic gear, so I actually just made up an aluminum gear. I read somewhere that someone else made some aluminum ones at some point but they are hard to find. So my question is.......would anyone out there be willing to test out one of my gears and let me know how it runs? I have my car pretty much back together and I will be testing it my self soon, but I was hoping to find 1 more person that runs a xxt often that would be willing to try it out. I plan on listing some on eBay once they are proven. I made about 10 extra for now. I would ship the gear on my dime and the person could keep the gear. I just want to get it into someone's hands that knows what they are doing to test it other than myself. I just don't want to sell anything that has any issues. I read somewhere that this plastic gear is the weakest link when converting to brushless. I would imagine the aluminum would hold up much better. Thanks for taking the time to read this!Image

He has the new member private messages restriction. Not enough posts made yet. It's intended to prevent people from joining just to harass other members. The quick way to remove that restriction is to make a $5 site support donation and get super member status.
