im an idiot
i have recently been selling rc stuff. its been nice getting rid of most of it as i have too much.
i sold a pair of bigbear bodies to a dude in texas on the 21st of december on the rc10 vintage b/s/t group on fb. had a couple fb messages with him and got the payment and addy and all that right away.
today, 10 days later... i move a box to get to another box and behind that box i see the bodies. i messaged the guy right away and even updated my fs post in the fb group to call out i had spaced.
god dangit... havent heard back but i hope the dude is cool about it.
that is all. i thought maybe id feel better posting it here to get it off my chest but i dont think its gonna work.

Re: im an idiot
i once put a soldering iron to my lips. i was stoned.
also, in another solder/stoner related accident i dropped 2 full drops of liquid soldering flux into my eye. on purpose. i had visine and the flux on my hobby table and got them mixed up... gf was comin over and i didnt want to look stoned. she ended up taking me to the emergency room where they put this big cup thing on my eye and let saline just flush it for awhile. hurt the worst i think ive ever had anything hurt. didnt mess up my eye permanently but i had a weird blister thing in the fleshy part under my eyelids for awhile.

The soldering iron on the lips sounds pretty bad too.
I accidentally helped CA glue a buddies lips together
We CA'ed his coke bottle lid on, and he got to it before it cured and took a swig...and couldn't get it off his lower lip

Re: im an idiot
I was working at a dealership and had a car on a drive on lift, sitting about waist level. I was doing a mudflap install, we would sometimes do new car pre delivery stuff when it was slow. I would try to tap the stupid thing in and it didn't go, bounced out. Chased it down and tried again. Same thing. After a few more times I was so pissed off I took the hammer and swung it hard to hit the ramp on the lift and totally missed the lift, but got myself in the leg. Hurt like hell for a week.
I also was doing some soldering under a dash, to reach the area I was laying with my back on the floor board and there was no seat (race car). Everything was going well until I got a nice bit drip of solder on the forehead. That stung pretty good.
My time with Sears I was often working on dishwashers. The Whirlpool were notoriously ginsu sharp on the edges and we all knew that. Any time we would take out a pump we were super careful as it was like reaching into a bag of razor blades. Well, one time I was reaching for a screw that fell and slipped, just about knocked the top of my finger off. I quickly and quietly wrapped it up with a towel and excused myself from the house, told the lady I had to run to my van for a second. I went to the van and called it in. The old man came out and tapped on my window as I was talking, rolled it down and he said "my wife says you cut yourself. Wants to know if you're ok" lol. I was out for a week and then light duty for the next week.
I know there's a ton more but I can't think of any.

I've often " half" joked that some of the shitter jobs require a blood sacrifice before they are complete .GoMachV wrote: ↑Tue Dec 31, 2024 9:51 pm I was working at a dealership and had a car on a drive on lift, sitting about waist level. If a jobs not worth doing then its certainly not worth doing well.

Re: im an idiot
We've all made stupid mistakes, the question is, was anything learned from it? Better yet, was anything learned from the mistakes of others?
The obvious answer to those questions is . . . Of course not!

Nah man, you made a mistake and corrected it. An idiot would have kept the money and sold the stuff again. You’re a decent human being.

Re: im an idiot
I got in a hurry on a brake job and had the calipers switched around. Didn't figure it out until I couldn't bleed them. You only do that ONCE.
Pushed a ~9" larch snag over in the woods once, stood there like an idiot watching it fall, it teeter-tottered over a stump, butt came up and hit me in the side/elbow and launched me onto my ass. Lucked out on that one.
Lit a firecracker in my teeth once, powder burned my lip pretty good.
Scratched a roll of strip caps like a lotto ticket once, burnt my thumb.
Lit a firecracker in my teeth once, again, micro tore one of my nose holes.
Hit a raccoon once riding a bike, raccoon got up and peddled away.
