where did all the rib stadium truck tires go

Post by RC4X4 »

Looking for some 2.2 stadium truck rib tires today and nobody makes them anymore (or they are "out of stock"). Any suggestions for a set of fronts?

JC just dropped some today actually. He is UK but shipping isn't bad.

I build RCs like people would have done back in the '90s ..................................... if they had 3D printers.

He posted in the truck forum, so maybe he meant front truck rib tires? Well, proline stopped making the edge tire for a good while now and yup, jconcepts carvers are out of stock everywhere. Depending on how loamy or loose your dirt conditions are, holeshots or double dees work well as fronts and if its not too dusty or loose, you could even get away with ellipses on a clean/swept/slightly dusty outdoor track.

The JC would work but they are out also. I may have to give some rear treads a try I guess.

Their tires are in and out of stock. I suspect that they do small batches. If you really want some, I'd message them in regards to the next batch.

With the transition to indoor racing (clay/carpet) there's unfortunately a lot less demand for ribbed front tires. Jconcepts Carvers is the only racing tire currently being produced, with the JC Racing Products Double Ups as a possible alternative.

Don't know if they're out of production or just waiting on new batches but there's also Panther Tires:

And V Rib:

And in a pinch... HPI still makes their Front Line:

I followed the suggestion and tried HPI 4453 in the front (in combination with HPI 4410 in the rear) on my RC10GT and I am glad having tyres for clay (track was a bit softened due to moisture) but as the tyre compound is significantly harder than Jconcepts blue, while the inserts are quite soft I could continue enjoying the hobby but hoping to go back to my combination of Carvers in the front and Goose Bumps in the rear (which are a bit less impossible to get).
Thank you for posting the hint of alternatives (I can run again :D ) but I am really looking forward (and hoping) to grab some JC Carvers 3028 again.

I know this is a little bit late but..

Last year when I was doing my eGT build I picked up a set of these.

Amazon cheapies

They came with wheels but they're not glued. They've been real good for just general driving and having fun with. I'm not sure how well they'd do on a track but they certainly look the old 'vintage' part.

I might grab another set or two before they vanish.
