Team Mooh did it again
Helle there!
Last weekend we had the last german regional race this year.
I was driving my RC10 in 2WD and my new Yokomo Works 91 S.P.O.R.T. in the 4WD class.
Sebastian was not driving his RC10. He drove a Kyosho Ultima RB5 and a Predator X11 in the classes. What a shame! Haha!
Saturday was a little rainy. So we had to whole race-day for cleaning the cars after each run.
My old cow was - fast. Maybe too much power inside for best laptimes, but so much fun to drive!
My result was the 4. place after all. not bad. Sebastians non-vintage-Kyosho was much easier to drive and had no traction-roll problems, like me. He could make the 2. place and was superfast. Congrats Seb! But he had several problems with the dust and dirt on the track and broken parts.
Sunday was 4WD. My Yokomo was very easy to drive and the handling was very well on the very rough track. The only problem was dirt inside the differentials and a little understeering. I had to wrench the diff after each run. Was a little frustrating for me.
Sebastian drove a Predator X11 and everybody says, the car is crap. But Sebastian surprised all with excellent laptimes and he could make the 3. place after all.
After all the diff-wrenching I found no time to glue new tires and take a look for a better set-up. So I made the 10. place of all.
The race was pure fun for me! Great weekend! I can´t get enough!
After comming home, I could watch the Soccer Euro-Cup Final. Germany lost the final against Spain. No problem for me. Hehe!
Michael

Cheesus! Now I f%€$ed!
Yepp, I did it with a Kyosho. But since I nearly wrecked my car four weeks before on that track (in very muddy conditions) I thought it was time for the *cough* spare K-car ...
Cheers
Seb

Re: Team Mooh did it again
Hey Michael,
I 'm preparing a YZ-10 based car to enter the 4wd racing and was worried about the open diffcases already.
Now it just got a couple degrees worse
The front box is not a problem I guess, but the rear one just looks eager to grab little stones and crunch them.
With as many years at the top of the competition, there must be dozens of preventive measures tried already.
So call out to the rc10talk lords of wisdom: "Do you know if the YZ-10 racers back in the days used some tricks to keep the dirt out? "
PS: I think yokomo made a fitting lexan cover when they released the YR-4-mini, anybody have one of those for the repro-guys perhaps?

LINK http://www.rc10talk.com/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=3840 - Review of Masami's YZ10 WCS, good tips on how he protected the car against the track elements - note particularly the foam around the Spur/Pinion (image below)
Interesting use of foam around pinion and spur to protect from debris

Shot of my YZ10, I used a small piece of Lexan to cover the RPM Rear Diff Mounts

Re: Team Mooh did it again
Back when I ran a YR4 in parking lot racing, we had to cut out the back of the bulkheads and then dremel underneath the diff pulleys to let the little rocks "pass thru" it worked pretty well
Mark
Aaaaahhhh crap! I'm about to get passed by that orange truck!

Re: Team Mooh did it again
Yep, standard trick was to cut holes in the back of the gearbox and a slot under the diff pulley to let the dirt out. Not much point in sealing the back as it only keeps the dirt in. Cut properly the body and undertray keeps almost all of the dirt out anyway.
