Bill, you're 100% correct except for one thing. I'm always ready to throw out that purist vintage line, it suits me all day, every day. Seems like the kind of thing someone who started a whole vintage message board and who plans to attend a vintage race might be into, no?

Seriously, I don't care what you run. I don't understand it, but it doesn't bother me. I don't understand putting 24" DUB wheels on a 69 Camaro either but hey, to each his own. I guess I did come off a bit jerkier than I meant, I do that from time to time. Besides, your threaded shocks aren't going to help you get around and lap me any better when I'm cartwheeling off the jump in front of you.

It's all good as far as me lapping you I would not worry about that unless were running on asphalt and I can run my 1/12 car. I will prob be cart wheeling right behind you into the catch fence. Another question do you guys use traction compound in off road ?? J/K

Simple green works wonders for just about ALL modern rubber tires - onroad or offroad...Plus it gets them all nice and clean after a run on a slightly muddy track (not that an indoor track should be muddy)...

Anyone know where I can get the hex-based rear wheels for the new MRC buggy?? Last shop I asked about those tires politely told me that "they can run a pin rear, so why would you want the hex ones" - then I told them and never got a response....I want to run my Astute, but the stock rims aren't 2.2 from what I remember - anyone care to correct me??

How about an award for the best cartwheel off a jump?? Sounds like I'll have some competition in that category

I live in New Haven, CT, about 20 minutes or so from the event, I'm going to try and make this even, It sounds like a vintage car owner's dream come true, although I must say, I'm not quite sure If I would want to bash around in my Wild One. But I am awfully tempted to do so . Hey Erich, is there any info on the layout of the track for this event?? is it gonna be the same layout you have on there now?? Cause that is one nasty table jump you got there, NIce track though, is it gonna be vintage car friendly??

Like I said before, I'm from New Haven, I might have to come by one of these days to check your hobby/track out.... from what I've seen from the pictures and videos it seems like an awesome place.. I used to race at Hobby Chambers in Orange, CT and In Xtreme R/C in New Milford (dirt oval)....

Why not use Kyosho rear wheels? Offset if different (wider), but same 12mm hex.
Also Tamiya has some 12mm hex 2.2 wheels, as well as HPI and OFNA.

Well....I didn't know Kyosho and Tamiya made 2.2 wheels..

I knew HPI did, but only truck tires - never saw a 2.2 buggy tire from HPI...and honestly, didn't think of OFNA

Hey there! Who is this? I raced at Xtreme DO too. The table top is much better then people think it is. Its a very slow jump and the blocks that people worry about hitting are actually way before the jump. If you hit those you were headed for disaster blocks or no blocks. I had talked to Mark about the track layout and although I'd like to leave his track just the way it is for his business' sake he was very open to doing whatever was necissary for the race to be a success. Jon and Mark are really great guys and the track that they own, IMO, could not be better for our cars. If your really worried about it bring something... anything up there and run the track a little bit, you'll see thats more of a finesse and slower track so you won't be bashing your beauties to bits. Beleve me I don't want to wad my cars up either and the fact that people are racing very old and special cars was one of my biggest considerations in finding the right track for this race.

Bullet would fall into 2wd.

By the way, I used to race there 7yrs ago, and only raced for 3-4 weekends, the drive got too far for me...

Ok boys and girls as of 12/93 the XX was on sale, it was reviewed in the 2/94 issue of Car Action which knowing how that works (for those who love be technical) means they produced the article in 11/93... feb issues came out mid january, and were produced in house in decemeber. So what does all this mean to you who has read way to much of my babbling here? The XX is fine, you can run it if you wish as it was available for sale in 1993. Honestly and only my opinion i was going to just blindly say it can be run anyway for a couple reasons... 1. the point here is to have fun and drive old cars, thus making 1994 a cutoff with some grey area. 2. There really isn't TOO much different from the Pro SE to the XX, yes there were changes but it wasn't so profound of a change that it was in a league of its own. Just an updated version of what was already a profound leap in their design from the Pro.

The best person to contact is Mark Westerfield (see previous posts on this thread). He is one of the owners of the track and has even suggested tires to run but can best advise you on whether tapers will work or not.

Hpi super nitro rs4 wheels are an awesome 12mm 2.2 wheel.

I've used them for a tc3 buggy and my reissue hotshot.
