Lipo Question

Post by THEYTOOKMYTHUMB »

Hi everybody, longtime listener, first time caller. Recently, I pulled out all of my old lipos and charged them. I was pleasantly surprised that they all seem to have stored pretty well. After charging them, I didn't really want them sitting fully charged, so I ran each one a few hot laps down the road in the B3 because it was handy. One ThunderPower pack, which I'm not even sure how it came into my possession, ran great for the most part but bogged down at one point. I thought it must be discharged or damaged, but then it just came back to life. It was kinda weird. Just curious what might cause this? I'm running a simple 1060 Quicrun esc and a Trinity stock motor in it if that matters. Just had me curious, and seemed like a good Sunday afternoon conversation starter. Well, Sunday where I'm at anyway...

I'd be just as suspicious of the 1060. They are known for going in and out of "limp mode". Any time I use one in something that I intend to run hard, it gets a capacitor bank or similar.

Unless you get the caps cheap, a 1080 makes more sense.

Most interesting, I have moved a few things around lately and I put many lipo batts into storage yesterday and today. Well, I moved them from a shelf into the Bat storage box.

I guess checking them for voltage and possibly using them to see if they still have life in them would be best. Thanks for the reminder as to how important it is to take care of these things.
