Rc10 T4.2 set up question

Post by Josh1977 »

Hey Guys and Gal I just found a gutted but in great shape T4.2 at a garage sale and I was looking around for ideas on what brushless motor/speed control to put in it. I would like to get some really good speed out of it.

Are you looking to use it on a track and get good handling characteristics or just all out straight line speed?

Backyard racing I'm gonna build a track with some really long straights around 100 yards or more.

Holy cow, my vision wouldn't be good enough for that long if a straight run! How many neighbors are letting you run the track through their back yards too?

Tell me you're in northern IL and I'll come help build it

Great truck though. I have five T4s, all different variations. My backyard basher (originally a T4.3, but very much modified) has a Hobbywing Max10 4000kv motor and esc, it's alotta fantasticness for that kinda thing. Has no problem going 55+mph (maybe 60) on 3s with 21T pinion and 78T spur, and 4.2" dia. tire (2.8" wheel). That setup with 3s is bit much for off-road (gets hot), but great with 2s, which hits 43mph with the 2s battery. That's nice for long straights.
So I'd suggest something in the 4000-4600kv or around 8.5-9.5 turn.
