Team Losi XX-4 Worlds Edition

Post by Dangeruss »

In 1999 Team Losi released a new version of their XX-4 1/10 4wd electric racing buggy called the XX-4 Worlds Edition. The aptly named Double X Four Worlds car was based on the upgrades Jukka Steenari used on his XX-4 to win the 4WD class at the 1999 IFMAR World Championship held at Umihall Racing Arena in Rauma, Finland. This new version of the XX-4 used the molded graphite composite Low-CG mini-tub chassis from the Street Weapon IWC with its relief cut base plate to accommodate lower mounting of the motor and batteries, along with the IWC's sealed and upgraded triple blue belt 4wd system. A stronger front bulkhead, ball bearing steering bellcranks with titanium turnbuckles, molded graphite shock tower and a-arms with titanium turnbuckle camber links and threaded body, teflon coated, internally sprung, oil-filled coilvers with titanium nitride shafts completed the front suspension. Out back, 2-degree inner arm pivots with an extra 2-degrees, a molded graphite shock tower, XX-CR rear suspension and threaded body, teflon coated, oil-filled coilovers with titanium nitride shafts could be found. Smaller improvements included metal rear outdrives being replaced with composite units and multipiece thrust bearings replacing the previous single piece bearings. New dish wheels were used at all four corners, spinning on a complete set of ball bearings, and wrapped in Losi Silver Compound Taper Pin tires front and rear. The World XX-4 also included a new clear lexan body and was sold unassembled less radio and electronics:
