Re: Blasphemous T2 retro racer
Did you use b4/t4 front caster blocks with the stock inline steering block and axles? I found that is the best way to widen the front and minimize geometry problems. Only thing i never liked about using the b4/t4 caster block on older rc10s is that at full lock, there's still the issue of the inside tire's steering and camber links hitting and binding during upward suspension movement.

Re: Blasphemous T2 retro racer
Yeah, that's what I've done with the buggy, also helps proper ackerman. I've also run the trailing blocks which is way less twitchy on larger/faster/grippier tracks IMO. There are some other geometry advantages for me with these blocks for spindle height adjustment to bootcarloco8 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 18, 2024 5:23 pm Did you use b4/t4 front caster blocks with the stock inline steering block and axles? Does anyone other than TBG make a T2 shell? Thought Jconcepts did, but I don't see it. Have an original, guess it doesn't matter if I use it

Re: Blasphemous T2 retro racer
Just TBG at the moment. Jconcepts did release it but discontinued it a few years ago I believe along with the narrow 10t team truck body. They just have the T3, f150 10t, and GT bodies available now. I currently use the TBG T2 body on my runner and it is just as good as the original. Only the T2 body fits over the rear T2 shock tower well ofcourse, everything else sits too high, so if you need another body it's the best option imo.
Also, I highly recommend using a rpm mini front bumper, for old school 10T/T2 runners, it's a front end life saver. The pros never had to worry about the exposed front hinge pins and arms getting shaved on a nose down landing since they were going to use new parts for the next race anyway!

Trinity XX trans brace makes a perfect spacer that's needed when you flip the tower to the front of the bulkhead

Re: Blasphemous T2 retro racer
Might just see if Jeff feels like making a new rear tower with lowered body mount positions and *gasp* correct shock angle adjustment holes-
B7 wing mounts as body mounts look promising- still need to see if the T6.4 ones might work better

Re: Blasphemous T2 retro racer
I may try one of Ruonas T3 shells- the B7 rear wing mount as a body mount caused the T2 shell to be too high, the sloped rear roof line might play perfectly to that anyway

Re: Blasphemous T2 retro racer
So, it looks like the T3 body fits okay after all. I had one fitted to a 10t with a custom kydex mount and stock pieces to mimick a T3 shock tower rest and mount and I believe it would probably work just as well on a T2. I have my T2 shock tower mounted in the stock position and the pic's are a little blurry but you can see the amount of space you have to work with.

Re: Blasphemous T2 retro racer
Why wouldn't one make a lower CG tower and remove the lower shock mounts, thus mounting the shocks directly to the arm? You already tweaked the front.

Re: Blasphemous T2 retro racer
Great question! That was one of my ideas, the only real downside is designing the tower and having it cut etc. Ultimately I'm going to wait until I have the 13mm T6.4 shocks in hand to look at making any real work like a tower design and such.

Re: Blasphemous T2 retro racer
I'm sure that this would have occurred to AE at the time. Especially on the T2 that had an all new shock tower designed just for it. Why did they go with the mounting bracket that was used on the gt instead of doing what is suggested here is making a shorter shock tower to lower the CG?Charlie don't surf wrote: ↑Thu Sep 26, 2024 6:55 pmGreat question! Re: Blasphemous T2 retro racer
If I remember right, supposedly the higher mounted shocks on the T2 improved handling by increasing rear roll stiffness without requiring a sway bar or stiffer springs.JosephS wrote: ↑Mon Sep 30, 2024 8:30 amI'm sure that this would have occurred to AE at the time. Re: Blasphemous T2 retro racer
I have found that on the super high traction tracks that I'm on now, the lower the CG the faster the overall corner speed. Companies weren't playing with axle height adjustments BITD either and they play a big part of corner speed on modern surfaces IMO

Re: Blasphemous T2 retro racer
The lower arm standoff serves to simulate mounting the lower shock position further out. This way they likely didnt have to mold a new rear arm and definitely makes the rear feel stiffer than just mounting directly to the outside hole on the arm. Maybe more like mounting the lower shock on a "fourth" outer arm hole and like Dangeruss said, stiffens the rear, so more stability and faster rear rotation on high traction surfaces.Dangeruss wrote: ↑Mon Sep 30, 2024 9:11 amIf I remember right, supposedly the higher mounted shocks on the T2 improved handling by increasing rear roll stiffness without requiring a sway bar or stiffer springs.JosephS wrote: ↑Mon Sep 30, 2024 8:30 amI'm sure that this would have occurred to AE at the time.
