Sees Wheels
New and improve thread... now with two posts full of pix and info, all for the same low price!
The history of Sees Precision Machine Works goes back to 1986 when brothers Andrew and Anthony Sees opened Little Engines Inc. in their parents’ home garage. A buddy of Andy’s brought his Frog over to the shop and they turned out a set of wheels for it. When the car was taken to their local hobby shop, everybody flipped over them and they began making and distributing aluminum wheels locally. In 1987 Little Engines Inc. moved into their first commercial location at 1414 W. 134th St. in Gardena California and began advertising in RCCA magazine. In 1988 Horizon Hobby offered to distribute Sees wheels nationally, leading to the creation of Sees Precision Machine Works and the first Sees/Horizon Hobby ad in December of 1988.
Sees wheel ads would appear in every issue of Radio Control Car Action Magazine from July 1988 until April of 1991.
As production of wheels for the RC industry wound down Sees would enter the automotive aftermarket and aerospace sectors which allowed them to move to a new location at 1849 W. 169th St. Gardena, California in 1994 where they currently still operate, producing billet supercharger cases and components for The Blower Shop as one of their clients.
Their entire inventory of RC wheels was bought in bulk and subsequently sold one set at a time by Brandon G two decades ago. Brandons conversations with Andy provided some color to this post and you can read about his experiences here:
https://www.rc10talk.com/viewtopic.php?t=15104
Sees would have 13 ads in total through their 34 issue run, all of which are posted below with the month, year and page number associated to each ad.
*Note, if you happen to have a January 1991 issue of RCCA handy and can tell me which ad is on pg. 21 (should be #12 or #13) I would appreciate it.
[Update: thank you to azone for providing the missing Janurary 1991 ad]

Re: Sees Wheels
great post!
They are indeed still in business. I live 3mi from their location. I've considered stopping by unannounced with my Sees wheels and thanking them for the history but I don't want them to think I'm some a-hole or crazy person!
Here is the Jan91 RCCA.. if you don't have this ad and want a better scan/pic let me know.. I just took these pics quickly w/ my iphone.

Oh wow... I never would'a guessed a full page'r... very cool. I don't have the ad so, yeah, if you can scan it or get a better photo that'd be really awesome.azone wrote: ↑Sat Sep 07, 2024 1:54 pm great post!

Neat that you live near 'em... If I lived that close I'd struggle with "should I stop by" too.
