So, what did you do RC today?

When it's R/C related, but doesn't fit anyplace else.

Well………. I think I just figured out that I have a problem with rc, had a xxt turn up a couple of days ago and was scrolling through eBay for some parts when I accidentally bought another whole complete truck instead WTF🤣

Now I look forward to running it
Good choice. Arrma units are tough and most importantly, not Traxxass. It's nice to run and beat on something without a lot of worry if parts break, reason why I have the Typhon 6s.
I’m a big fan of Arrma. I have a Notorious 6S as well
You name it - and I want it ;)

I changed the setup and made another run on the dirt oval track with my KF2. It went much better, but grip was still comically low. I think the car is now as good as it going to get until I take a leaf blower and a hose to prep the surface.

But...the really fun thing...is that I also took my re-re XLS. :D I made no setup changes, not even proper tires, and it was AWESOME! The advantage of 4WD on a surface that slick is enough to overcome all other features combined  The KF2 is ~25 years newer design, better tires, better shocks, proper setup, etc., but 2WD. In a 5 minute run, the CAT would win by 15 laps

I ran at the dirt oval track again. There had been a race on Saturday, so track conditions were much better. My KF2 was flying, or at least I thought it was, until I ran my XLS. :D

I love the Gulf livery, but alas, one cannot polish a turd. You can put lipstick on a pig, though. :D This buggy has one of the more hideous cab forward bodies. Schumacher definitely had a "hold my beer" moment looking at the ugly cab forward designs from Losi, AE, XRay, etc.

I do remember sheepishly telling the "missus" of a certain purchase (in my mind it made perfect sense)...my angle was: the item I am really after just happens to be bolted to an entire buggy, sans body.

It worked!

You'll be fine. For better or worse, all that jazz, etc.
Hope you're doin' something fun.

Not all today, but been slowly chipping away at what will be a Brat/Mud Blaster mashup. It was built from parts like I wanted, not a modified kit.

Long story short my old power supply from 2007 had non backlit meters, I always wanted to backlight them even from new. With my new dirt cheap charger needing a P/S I thought now's the time. Went to double check what resistor I needed and what happens? My multimeter prong slips and blows up the volt meter. Luckily they still make spare parts and the new ones are LED, so after waiting a month for 2 new meters tthey finally arrive.

So that's what I did, replaced and wired up the new meters. Bit of a shame they are slightly different colors but at least they light up now. Replacement LED boards are only $3 each but I can't be bothered waiting another month.

Next project is to make a single cell holder and see if I can't sort out a handful of cells.
I was old school - when old school wasn't cool !

I rebuilt the diff in my KF2 (is 2013-ish vintage?). New housing (because I screwed up the old one, Schuey guys will know exactly how it happened  ), new seals, new bearings.

This leads to a question. Do folks polish or lap the metal gears in the diff? Since I was replacing everything but the gears, I cleaned the old housing and filled it with Flitz (metal polish) and spun the diff in both directions using an electric drill, thinking it would polish the gears and reduce friction. Is that a thing? Or has modern manufacturing made this unnecessary?
