They had the original manual they could've plagiarized, a wealth of knowledge, and just ignored it like it never existed.

Thanks! I used the Tamiya Curved 3mm tape, this stuff does not bleed, great for edges, and then masking on top of this, for a sharp line.Burniefloyd wrote: ↑Tue Aug 13, 2024 11:52 pm What tape did you use for your pinstripe? It looks great and I always get bleed through.

Re: RC10 DS Classic - Build
That's exactly what I thought the livery was this whole time, seriously, only recently realized it wasn't a beverage sponsor, it says Dual Sport

Re: RC10 DS Classic - Build
Yes, the stock battery cup and configuration allows for a full size 2S LiPo, in fact I need to buy a Factory Works shorty battery holder to make that actually fit. I'm only using a shorty for brushless purposes.

That looks legit budGreenBar0n wrote: ↑Tue Aug 13, 2024 8:00 pm
It was now or never for the boxart body, had to do it first or I never would've.
The tail wing script is different from the boxart, and the Makita front bumper stickers aren't red like the boxart.
With the DS body done, the Bandit is next. How can you have any pudding, if you don't eat your meat?

Re: RC10 DS Classic - Build
Does the new chassis have the battery cup spaced out to properly hold a 2s? It used to be a couple of 16th's short for a full length 2sGreenBar0n wrote: ↑Wed Aug 14, 2024 3:27 amYes, the stock battery cup and configuration allows for a full size 2S LiPo, in fact I need to buy a Factory Works shorty battery holder to make that actually fit. It's a tight fit, but the full size 2S LiPo fit for me, this one has the hard shell.

Re: RC10 DS Classic - Build
This evening I watched both Smokey and the Bandit I (1977), and made it about halfway through Smokey and the Bandit II (1980); part II has Bandit written on the drivers door, part I has no name on the door.
What i was really looking for was the exact decals to use for the Part I Bandit. The Bandit I does not use many of the decals, and the grill is the black grill, not the full gold like I had thought (glad I checked first).

The shaker style hood has the 6.6 Litre decal.

The rear has the gold around the taillights, pin striping on the trunk and roof, and only around the wheels.

Here are all of the decals again.

Body and wing bolted together, time to finish the decals.

Ordered a decal squeege, these window decals trap too many bubbles, heat gun and poking the bubbles doesn't look as clean. Might be a couple of days on the Bandit body.

Re: RC10 DS Classic - Build
So many headlight surround decal options.
Oh wow, I just noticed the TA body set includes light buckets.
... and I just happen to have a good assortment of 3mm and 5mm leds on-hand.
I like to fit lights in my touring cars.

Re: RC10 DS Classic - Build
I was looking everywhere for the optional silver headlight and tail light buckets, shown on the sheet:

What I had thought was a separate nose, like the tail wing came with, was really the light buckets, that need to be painted silver/chrome:

I did use the masks.

I'll cut out the head/tail light buckets, and get them painted chrome with Alcald II.
The decal squeege should be here tomorrow, looking forward to finishing this one.

Re: RC10 DS Classic - Build
Those lexan light buckets don't offer a secure mount for the leds so I was thinking about using hot glue to hold them in place.
Is there a better way short of having something 3d printed?
