Javelin alloy wheels? [Solved: Pargu!]

Post by b027 »

I'm trying to find information on these alloy wheel on a Javelin I picked up last year. I've searched online and not yet turned up any certain matches.

One possibility is Pargu except I haven't seen a two-tone like the ones on his ebay site presently, and as far as I can tell his are single piece, while mine are two-piece with black hex hardware mounting from the back side.

Another possibility could be Tecnacraft, but all the ones I've seen have the hex hardware on the outside, not the inside...

The Javelin came from an auction listing and when I asked the seller about its history they just said "I had it on a shelf for a few years" so unfortunately I don't actually know anything useful about it. What's interesting is that (one more more) prior owner(s) took care to rebuild it with an orange-painted re-re cage with carefully applied decals and also polished all the aluminum parts to a mirror finish. It also has what I believe is a vintage alloy wing with what appear's to be Pargu's newer alloy mount set for the re-re cage, and alloy suspension arms that I haven't yet identified. I can't tell if the previous owner put on relatively new alloy wheels and parts, or a mix with older, vintage ones. I hope someone can shed some light on the wheels!

FYI I also posted this a while back on the "what is it" thread but didn't get anything back -- but there's a couple more pictures there of the alloy arms.

I can post more pictures of the Javelin at some point soon if that's of interest.

Thank for any insight!!
Brian

Those look like Pargu wheels to me, and I believe he made various designs in that configuration. Why don't you contact him to see?

I dig them too!

Pargu gets the credit! I reached out via eBay and he confirmed he made them.

Pargu has some cool rim designs indeed. I bought a set of these for my RWD Optima Mid car, but ended up going with something different for the finished car. I still have them and love the design, it's not something you see everyday.

I knew it. It's funny how between the designs, and machining process used, you can tell who made certain wheels by those identifying characteristics.

Nice work, I’m impressed! That’s some attention to detail :D

I spent a more than a little while looking at his wheel listings (partly for other possible projects) and while they’re similar I could see enough differences to be unsure.

I was also impressed that Pargu responded super quick!! Within minutes!

Very nice! I saw the build thread in your signature and both sets look really great. I’d imagine the successful hunt and trade for a full set of the final wheels was a significant part of that decision. But you really can’t go wrong either way!
