My memory is failing but aren't the inner holes for screwing the gear to a slipper clutch?
I think if you've fully populated the outer set of holes, you should be good. For reference, an early AE spur only holds 8 balls so installing more is just a bonus.

There's only (6) inner holes, and (12) outer holes. So the pattern is strange with (8) diff balls.

what do you mean by "inner ring"? There's only 8 balls that go in the spur gear.

The asc6693 Kimbrough 81T 48P spur gear, has (18) holes in it, not sure what I was supposed to do here.


I have another (10) diff balls, should I really add all of them? Seems like overkill.

Knowledgeable folks told me those inner holes would line up perfectly with early Schumacher slipper clutch housings (Cougar 2, Bosscat, CAT 2000, etc). I was able to find Schumacher spurs, so I haven't yet verified.

Glad to know what those inner holes are for, was too coincidental that the diff balls fit in all (18) of the holes, it makes sense that the Kimbrough is a generic spur gear, and can be used for other cars also.

The last of the white plastic parts will be here today, that's the servo blocks, 6-gear brace, and I already have all the steering plastics. Will make another Dyemore bath, and finish the graphite dye process. @GoMachV has said to leave the shock towers in the Dyemore bath for a longer period of time, they will darken eventually after 15 to 20 minutes, definitely will do.

The gold screws from KNK will be here tomorrow, I should be able to complete the chassis by early next week.

Just found out that the Futaba FP-T4L Tx, has throttle and steering combined on the right stick.

As preposterous as the notion is of this movie being based in any truth or reality, when they show Rook driving the RC vette in the movie, he uses the right stick only, and technically this Tx would allow for exactly that.

That would be possible with any 4-channel 2-Stick remote and a 4-channel Rx.

Took a quick inventory of the project.

The last of the dye is completed, the shock towers did take about 20 minutes more than everything else, and (3) total baths to get that dark, they looked purple before.


I think I'm going to build the shocks up first, and then paint them, seems the cleanest and most hassle free.


Wheels are still being designed, it seems the knock offs being exactly like the movie, might have been a difficult request, I'll find out more soon.

Thanks on the decals! It took a while to decide on those, hoping they are exactly right.

The knock offs on the movie car were made by GH, or DH, those are the initials of the guy making them around that time, it's like an Arabic name; I'm sure someone here knows the correct name and initials. They were like stock ones.


The Dhawk ones are more squared off.

Not many original parts on, TDP car. The axle stubs I got were NOS, and check out the shelf wear/patina.


Birchwood Casey blue kit does it again, got a lot of mileage out of that kit so far.


Got as far as I could this evening. Those roll pins in the rear axles, and those turnbuckles, for (2) cars, wore me out. Tomorrow is another day, only one set of turnbuckles per day for me.
