Got a bit more done on the Navajo body. Painted PS metallic orange over the bright silver. Just need to paint the windows then clearcoat the lot. I have a cunning plan for that melted hole in the roof.

Not sure if I'm more jealous of having the tools, or knowing how to use them...
Osiris is the key.

Melted hole in the roof fixed. Super Champ-esque roof section fitted. It'll look better after a polish and the rest of the body is finished.

Woke up on a rainy Saturday, with no real plan, saw the SRB parts spread all over the place, and decided to get into it. Building this the opposite way you should. Get to a step, gather, repair and clean parts as needed, and assemble that step. Rinse and repeat. Makes for a slow build. This is my first SRB, and just like with the 3-speeds, I really enjoy working with this old Tamiya metal stuff.

Re: So, what did you do RC today?
Over the last few months I have slowly rebuilt a Wild Willy. I picked it up cheap and found a few broken parts, modeled them and printed replacements including having a stainless steel 3d printed axle tube made. Soaked the body in LA's Awesome for a couple days to get the three layers of paint off. Threw a can of Tamiya olive drab at it. Added a new old stock radio and esc, and updated to a modern 540 since the og was really rusty. Built a modern 7.2v hump pack of nicads. I think it turned out pretty good minus the dry rotted tires, hopefully repros resurface from the overseas seller at some point.
Getting to the "today" part, this is delivery day for my mailman. He told me a few months back that he had a Willy growing up that he and his dad ran at the beach and had a blast. (His dad still has it- in pieces. That's phase 2 lol). He is the best mailman, goes out of his way for me. This was a lot of fun for me, now it will be fun for him.

Re: So, what did you do RC today?
Got a bit more done on the SRB. I ended up breaking the pot metal on one of the front susp arms, so need to track one of those down. The shocks have serious dissimilar metal corrosion, and I think I have three worked out, but one is a little messed up. The rear body mount post had a wood screw in it and messed up all those threads. I also realized I don't have the proper front body mount, so need to track that down. Shock assembling and electronics are next.

Yea, I got my 3speed Pickup tires from him, and when I got into my Blazer, I thought it would be easy to just order from him again, but nope. I contacted him directly awhile back asking if he would come out of retirement, but never heard back from him. The world needs that guy!

The WIlly came out nice, and that is an incredible gift!

Re: So, what did you do RC today?
dang, I was hoping it was just temporary. The tires are just such an odd size. I found some killer paddles with the same styling, but they are way large
I did draw up stock wheels as well as some to fit the DE racing mini outlaw tires, but those are kind of a last resort if the stock ones come apart.

Re: So, what did you do RC today?
Painted the wing and mounted up the body for my 870c. Gave up on trying to get paint into the sides of the wing and just ended up painting the exterior of it, doesn't look too bad, just less shiny than the body.
Consistency is the key I keep misplacing.
