Finally found a Triumph
Been looking for last couple of years and grabbed this from Japan.
No one really rates these but ive always has a soft spot for them from the old Hobby City days in Auckland,
This one needs CVD's and the battery clips etc, but not in bad nick.
The double belt gearbox is supposed to be pretty inefficent, but some retrofit gearbox parts coming up on shapeways to fit RE RE differentials and gears now too.
Ill see if the belts are salvageable first.
Came with the Futaba Megatech and MC210CB and that impressive S148 Standard servo.
Maybe a winter project, covert the slipper from 0.6 to true 48dp too.

Very nice! I've spent the last couple years slowly restoring one to running condition. I had one in the early 90s, so I have a bit of nostalgia towards them.

Did these have CVD'S from factory? Mine does not but seems like too well appointed car to not have them fitted?

These had dogbones from the factory with the W-5061 universals being optional. I don’t know if there were any aftermarket cvds.. The spur gear should be regular 48 pitch, the Lazer ZXR and Triumph were some of the first Kyoshos to switch to 48 pitch.

I'm such a sucker for carbon, Back in the day it was so exclusive and hard to get.
Paul Sims at Bezerk sorted me out, and custom cut a shorty lipo cradle to suit the factory drill pattern too.

Also a few other bits to add eventually, not sure about the electronics yet, I am planning to run it.
Team Penguin does an undertay and gear cover, the rest is TBG, always quality.
Belts (TM17) were hard to source, found tough racing, but they have a sketchy looking website and wouldn't ship to New Zealand?
Never come across that before.

So let's start another.......

Got the belts today and started a strip down rebuild,
Still waiting on bits, but couldn't help myself. As I'm sure loads of you people can attest to...
Had a rainy Sunday so polished some bits with sandpapaer and brass polish
What I've read on these cars all say the gearbox is inefficient etc so thought id start by swapping out the brass belt tension idler with bearings,
Tried a few permeations before settling on non-flanged.
Also only installed one belt.
Luckily the ball Diff was mint, replaced the balls and bearings anyway though.

Hand cut a gearbox brace and started to come together.
Replaced all the screws with Stainless cap screws as i was going.
The wing mounts tapped to M2.5 but I'm not sure if I'll keep it as I found the JJ ultima wing kits, and I'm liking the old school wire thing.
See how it pans out.
