Updating an old post: Assuming you limited your vintage collection to only your favorite 3 from any manufacturer what would they be?
I figure this could hypothetically limit my collection to less than 20 .

Apart from a basher and a crawler, my collection is all Schumacher. I would keep a Top Cat, an XLS, and another Top Cat.

All Composite Craft (non-TRC) here, so I'd go with: Predator (version3 with chassis pre-drilled for Lynx upgrade), Predator Lynx and then Predator Lynx (version2 with the nylon upper link posts).

You design 3D printed items so, having a stockpile of cars is a requirement. Keep collecting and making!
A typical three bedroom apartment for a Japanese family in Tokyo is around 70 sqm (753 sq. ft) ... so easy to run out of space ~
I agree having a kid makes me need to reduce my collection...for their stuff.

For 1911Colt: Why the Topcat? It looks sleek, the laydown tucked in shocks make it the most aerodynamic buggy of all time--like the Astute very beautiful.

Aside from a few basket cases and parts piles the only cars I have completed or mostly completed/in progress are these. All "shelfers"

But those are the keepers. I know it's silly to say, but I think I will be done obsessing and/or chasing pristine TRX series based buggies after (if I ever) finish this TRX-2 thing I'm working on. Then I'll put together a runner TRX-1 and maybe revise a TRX-3 based LW trailing arm car. Pipe dreams, I know, I know. The hassle of bodies and paint is almost enough to make me walk away from these stupid toy cars all together! Almost.

The Top Cat was just the "perfect storm" for me. I drooled over the CAT in magazines, but they were SOOOO expensive. I loved those Top Cat ads with a towel over the car- so mysterious! It was from England, where Jaguars and F1 cars are made When it was released with the F1 style front suspension and belt drive transmission, it seemed so exotic, plus it only cost $129. I didn't have anyone to race with, so I didn't know the RC10s and Ultimas were better.
I was pretty bummed when Schumacher scrapped the TC for the Cougar. To me it was as if Dolly Parton had gotten a breast reduction. Noooooo! You threw away the best part! At that point I was back in America and had started racing, so I bought a Losi like everyone else

Lol! I remember that ad, and 129 bucks was indeed cheap in retrospect. Like the overengineered Avante...looking cool is all that matters. I would like to get a TopCat in the future...and a Traxxas TRX-1...love the long simple, futuristic, flowing body.

When I liquidate my collection. The last three to go will be my Box Art GT, Kinwald Dudgeon, And Inferno 10. The rest could go tomorrow if someone offered the right price.

Oh that is a tough question and one I may have to potentially contemplate in the near future…but I have the collection split into shelf queens that I would find hard to let go and a lot of basket cases that could go tomorrow…if I wasn’t attempting to restore every single basket case I came across!

Sometimes it’s not how much I like the vehicle but more the amount of time I put into it or how long I had been working on it, finding the parts etc. but if only 3?
