What random thing did RogueIV design today?

Post by RogueIV »

I do a fair amount of designing parts in my free time and decided I should just make this thread for anyone interested in my debauchery.

Up for today is this:
RRD-LRM-Hydradrive-Cvr.jpg
It's a redesign based on the long discontinued Losi JRX LRM HydraDrive Gear cover. Still need to do a test print and also make the model for the plug.
Consistency is the key I keep misplacing.

Print came out OK dimensions seem to be good and it fits the car with and without hydradrive. it does still have the slight clearance issues at full compression as the original with the sliders and the camber links at the inner most holes but it's ever so slight and there's not much more i can shave off of this without cutting holes into it.

Wheel spacers to adapt YZ-10 rear wheels to my YZ-870C
I Designed it to be hub centric. it pushes the wheel out 6.75mm so it can match the spacing of the original wheels.

Yes those are Cactus Fusion front tires on the rear. I saw Masami run this way at a recent even and decided to give it a try.

I've grown incredibly fond of the Kyosho Turbo Scorpion wheels. I decided that my K24 and NRC24 need them too so I decided to scale some down for the 1/24 scale buggies.

All three pieces of luggage all had this shoddily designed button break. Really fun when you're trying to put your luggage on the plane.

Looks like they tried cutting cost by removing material from really bad places and didn't use and glassfiber in the plastic. It's a good thing Solidworks and 3d printers exist. Filament is fiberglass filled polypropylene that wasn't quite dry yet so it's a bit more textured than normal but is still way stronger than the originals.

Really simple one this time. A simple spacer to use low profile Lipos in the Cougar 2 Works.

IMG_20250318_235322062.jpg
I could have did the entire thing as 1 piece but the prints aren't nearly as strong as the molded nylon original parts so I opted to just make them as spacers and let the nylon parts do the work of holding the screws threads and keeping the battery from moving side to side. The printed parts are just in compression so durability shouldn't be an issue.
Consistency is the key I keep misplacing.

It amazes me to see the random things you folks can produce from thin air (and filament)! :D It is like voodoo but without the evil.

I didn't pay attention on the Cougar 2 because I only have shorty LiPos, but all of the previous re-re Schumacher kits came with various posts for different height batteries. Your solution is quite clever, though. I would have spent all day filing down the posts to make them equal height. Your setup allows you to switch easily if you ever wanted to run a normal shorty.
