I forgot to add my recent Trans Am injury to the list.
Broken foot while marshalling at the Nationals. Taped it up with battery tape and stuck it out for the rest of the race day even though I could barely walk. Spent the evening in the ER to find out that I had a clean spiral fracture of the 5th metatarsal bone in my right foot. There was a minor sprain to the ankle and upper foot, too. The whole thing below my ankle was purple for 6 weeks. I'm still hobbling on it with a bit of a limp but I can now accurately predict the arrival of thunderstorms.
I was jumping out of the way of an oncoming car en route to marshalling another car. My objective was to jump short or long of the lane boards, and I hit the 2x4 dead center. Rolled my foot over on the side, heard a loud POP and hopped back off track. I knew it was bad when I couldn't stand on it at all.
Anyone where sandals or flipflops to the track? The LHS said not to wear them to his track if you were gonna marshal or run. Offended a guy and his son to leave. They walked next door to run in the tall grass and clean the clay off the chassis so they could head home cussing all the way. Few minutes later everything got quiet and then we heard "Son-of-a-B#@!$!". Dad decided to walk up to pick his up but sonny ran right into the front of his foot pulling his big toenail up and over backwards (Yeah, I'm cringing just remembering it). He was damn lucky sonny had seen dad at the last second and was throttled down or he would have broke dads ankle with his 1/8 scale buggy . I haven't had any mishaps myself r/c related but I seen one in here doing rear drum brakes. Same thing happened to me doing the same exact thing but my needlenose pliers went under my safety glasses poking a hole just under my eye by a 1/4" knocking my glasses off, contact out of my eye and breaking about every bloodvessel in my eye with a fractured eyesocket to boot. 4hours in the ER and my eye was Blood red for almost a month...I don't do drum brakes anymore Todd

Drum brakes should be consigned to Hades, methinks.... I guess I was lucky with my minimal injuries! Either that, or you have far more force than me!!!

Alex,
Hades it is! off they go. I forgot to mention the gash on the back of my head from the wheelwell. I was under an explorer so the wheelwell was a little bigger to get into and if I had room to retreat from the hands on pliers I don't think it would've been so bad. Called the wife at work once I figured out I couldn't see good enuf to drive and wipe the blood at the same time and said something along the lines of I kinda need a ride...NOW please! I don't know if it was a force thing but maybe a murphys law thing...the way I was hunched over, nowhere to rebound being under the wheelwell, both hands on the pliers, the unlucky trajectory of where I was pulling from/going towards with my hands, the hatred I felt towards drum brakes .

He's an idiot. Comes from upbringing. His parents are probably idiots too.
Strangely, when I did the same it too was under a Ford.....
The plot thickens..... or, at least, the waist does......

A friend of mine was turned into a fire ball when the Ford he was working on started dribbling gas on his drop light. I don't remember what he was doing at the time, but like you guys, something slipped, the tank was pierced, and then there was flame. He got burned pretty bad, but recovered with little to no scarring. The shop he was working in sustained a fair amount of damage. At least no one else was injured.
adam lancia - That's an awful long time to do a brake job!
